I’m always amazed when I see these performances on KZbin at 1.) how awesome this band is and 2.) how few people are in the live audience. 3.) Make Our Garden Grow gets me in the feels every time. Thanks to the musicians for your continued inspirational playing!

These summer concerts used to be played on the steps of the Capitol building. Apparently that stopped during the pandemic and they haven't returned.

Loved Candide! I have fond memories of playing the Eb clarinet solo! Your Eb clarinetist is the best I have heard. I noticed she switched clarinets in Candide just wondering why?

Once I was bemoaning the fact that it seemed we weren't composing symphonies anymore. Then I realized we were. We just called them movie soundtracks, lol!.

It's a wonderful performance. But there are few spectators. And we should play in a concert hall where more spectators can enter. I can't go to listen to it because I'm in a distant country. Aren't Americans missing the opportunity to listen to the best music?

Had big band rehearsal tonight, so I'm grateful for this recording.....thank you, President's Own! I liked the horn piece, and the scoring of this transcription. I kept hearing Respighi, and it turns out Bozza borrowed themes from Pines of Rome and Feste Romana. btw, does anyone know why Michele switched instruments in the middle of the Candide Suite, right before Glitter and Be Gay? I've played that Eb part and I don't remember any switch The EH solo was really lovely, and nice clarinet solos in Casey! It's always fun to pick out the musical references in there. "Force Awakens" is my favorite JW Star Wars score, and this is a great arrangement. (I once conducted it at a concert with no notice, and I'm not a conductor! Fortunately I had listened to it a million times and knew it really well.) One more question: is the player next to the bass clarinet, who was playing contra alto earlier, playing alto in the Star Wars? I've never seen a neck like that on alto....thought it might also be basset horn. Thanks for the concert, everyone!
