hey SSgt. Nichols get us some videos of these guys on the parade deck making those heels strike the deck! I always loved to listen to 3rd phase recruits driving those heels into the deck. When I was stationed at MCAS Beaufort I'd ride over to Parris Island and watch the recruits drill. Its a beautiful thing!

they already have, this is likely the beging of phase 3. Although Step/Parade deck is started on day one, Cadence, etc even before Recruits know why its always left foot this left that... Then you realize it all ties together in phase 3. This is prep for Honor Platoon though, Alot of brass in the stands evaluating yourself AND your Senior Daddy lol. Little bit of fun competition Between the Platoons.

thankfully nowhere. the days of rifle drill in combat are long behind use (scary shit, think about marching into combat and carrying out drill commands waiting to fire) it's just Drill and Ceremony now.

Jeff N This is drill. It’s the backbone of every military group. It’s becoming us instead of I. A lot of people don’t understand just how important drill is. While in a combat situation marching in time and doing rifle drills in unison won’t come into play. Moving and thinking as a unit is vital.

@redifreddy14 None of my D.I.'s were...I won't even say it. We wore shorts in '79. The Marines by then had become a little humane because of all the political pressure of the sixties and seventies. To question authority had become the rule of thumb during that era. And many changes were made and wearing shorts was one of them. But I can't even thing of anyone being....I said I would not say it my whole tour. If they were....they would have never said it. Dont ask, Dont tell...Shut Up. Semper Fi
