for those not knowing better, the constantly activity between meals is what actually produces the fitness improvements. My bodyweight drop was far more intense due to the unrelenting activity. It wasn't harder, only longer in duration. USMC Nov 23, 1983.

My dad came from absolutely nothing as a kid, but fought in WW2 and stayed in the Navy. He eventually became a mustang admiral. If you don't know what a mustang officer is, look it up. He's one who became an officer without going to the academy. My dad also was a Blue and Gold officer back in '60s and '70s, I remember young men coming to our home to meet my dad and be interviewed along with their families. They were always great young men with nice families. I remember him talking about plebe summer, he loved it so much. He was so proud of being a Blue & Gold officer for Naval Academy. Good luck to all of you applying to the Academy, it's quite an honor!
@chronos4014 жыл бұрын
Um, a mustang is an officer who has prior enlisted service. Most officers do not receive their commissions by attending a service academy. Looks like there's only been 2 mustang admirals. Neither of them served in WW2. Nice try dopey liar.

I have been wanting to go to USNA since 6th grade and am planning to apply next year. I have a high GPA and am taking many AP classes. Does anyone know what else I should be doing to help me get in and will this be enough?
@alangardner38124 жыл бұрын
Hi Marie. I was appointed to 3 Service Academies, and will be attending Plebe Summer at USNA this year with the class of '24. Aside from academics, being a leader in whatever you do is what they want to see. Don't just join a club -- lead it from an elected position, and be ready to talk about what you did for the organization and why you mattered as a leader there. What did you impact? And how did it all impact you? Admission entails many, many, many interviews. Being able to convey your thoughts and true feelings in an interview is large. Be an outstanding/involved community member, and be able to speak on what you did and why. Athletic leadership, academic leadership, and club leadership together are commonly admitted profiles. There is no 1 perfect way to get in, many different characters with different strengths an backgrounds are admitted each year. Just do your best, and stay consistent! Also, being early in deadlines is huge. The second your app opens, finish it quickly without compromising content or the strength of your app. They will notice.

Thank you so much! That was very helpful. Good luck this year!

I have a two questions for anyone that has been through Plebe summer 1. Is it all physical and quality building or are there classes and courses you have to sign up for? 2. Did you ever get tired of being called a Plebe?
@SaltiDawg20085 жыл бұрын
I was never unhappy to be called a plebe. Not many people are good enough to earn that right...now I wanted to move on to greener grass as a Youngster.

Former Enlisted here... your enlisted experience may help you for a week or so... and the maturity you've gained may help you to be a better Midshipman and later a better Officer. However there really is nothing similar about Plebe Summer and your Enlisted time, including Bootcamp which is a walk in the park.
