The only other time I remember being this blown away is during Roger's 2004 Wimbledon title run. Back then, it was evident that there was absolutely no one in his class and that he was chasing perfection in his game. Though he won no.3 then, I saw 16 at least. Emma's dominant performance through the US open is filling me with the same kind of excitement and I'm only hoping that she stays determined in chasing big dreams, cause she certainly has the game that can win them all.

It's weird how calm I was watching this live. It didn't matter if Emma won it or not -- she'd already achieved something special -- and then it so quickly became clear that she was going to win anyway! Maria Sakkari did amazingly well to fight hard in the second set, but one Emma settled from those first few points it was only going to go one way. Just a supremely dominant display. It was crazy.

I would like some more impartial comments, not all about how Sakari can improve her game and making less error when it's obvious that Emma is a far superior player putting pressure on her opponent. Some of Emma's return of serves are outstanding. This match is better watched with audio off!

This match was over by the end of game 4, first set. Any confidence Sakkari had died at the end of the 3rd and hope died at the end of the 4th. Oh she can say that she didn't play well etc but when your opponent stops you from being able to settle, to find your stride, to make your best shots, well you're never going to play well are you? Raducanu adapted her game to match the power of Sakkari and Sakkari had nothing else to offer. The right person won, any excuses from the other side is childish pique at being outplayed.

Sakkari’s worst and most painful defeat thus far was at the 2021 RG semis against Krejcikova. She was serving for the game and literally lost two games in a row and couldn’t close the match that would have brought her to the final against Pavlynchenkova who was a much easier opponent. So far this was her best chance at winning a slam. Apparently she couldn’t sleep for 3 nights after that loss.
