The only other time I remember being this blown away is during Roger's 2004 Wimbledon title run. Back then, it was evident that there was absolutely no one in his class and that he was chasing perfection in his game. Though he won no.3 then, I saw 16 at least. Emma's dominant performance through the US open is filling me with the same kind of excitement and I'm only hoping that she stays determined in chasing big dreams, cause she certainly has the game that can win them all.

Yes. She's been remarkable. Does an ITF mid-June and gets to the QF Gets a wild card to Wimbledon in early July, her 1st major, getting to the 4th round Does some lower level tournaments in August, getting to a QF and a final Enters the USO in early September as a qualifier, her 2nd Major, and wins it. Her only hope in doing all these tournaments was to get a qualifier slot at the Australian Open. Now she will be seeded. And extraordinary 3 months for her.

I was thinking the same thing, I've been watching all her matches and every time her opponents increased the pressure on her, she would just go through a level up and pressure her opponents even more. She seems to increase her intensity instead of getting fatigued as the match goes on.

It's weird how calm I was watching this live. It didn't matter if Emma won it or not -- she'd already achieved something special -- and then it so quickly became clear that she was going to win anyway! Maria Sakkari did amazingly well to fight hard in the second set, but one Emma settled from those first few points it was only going to go one way. Just a supremely dominant display. It was crazy.

That last game, knowing what was at stake, her first ever GS final in her 2nd GS, and she played it like it was the first game of the match. No nerves; just so calm, point by point, and clinical. Match point, serve wide, return deep, volley the winner.

At first I was annoyed by the audio imbalance. But then the commentators sounded like a bunch of Sakari's fan just chatting when it was obvious that their favourite is not winning the game. I would like some more impartial comments, not all about how Sakari can improve her game and making less error when it's obvious that Emma is a far superior player putting pressure on her opponent. Some of Emma's return of serves are outstanding. This match is better watched with audio off!

The two of them , one ranked 174 and the other totally unranked would play against eachother as young teenagers in this championship final after beating all of the other top ranked players in the tournament ! Raducanu plays for Britain where she now lives .

They should have "Shot of the Tournament" like in snooker! Raducanus' double handed backhand straight back the line that totally wrong footed Sakkari was ammmazzzinng! So unexpected, no other player who made a great shot down the line would ever expect it to come straight back down the line to them! The small percentage of making that shot was ridiculous! I was only watching and it wrong footed my brain! Awesome😲.❤️🇬🇧👌

This match was over by the end of game 4, first set. Any confidence Sakkari had died at the end of the 3rd and hope died at the end of the 4th. Oh she can say that she didn't play well etc but when your opponent stops you from being able to settle, to find your stride, to make your best shots, well you're never going to play well are you? Raducanu adapted her game to match the power of Sakkari and Sakkari had nothing else to offer. The right person won, any excuses from the other side is childish pique at being outplayed.

Sakkari’s worst and most painful defeat thus far was at the 2021 RG semis against Krejcikova. She was serving for the game and literally lost two games in a row and couldn’t close the match that would have brought her to the final against Pavlynchenkova who was a much easier opponent. So far this was her best chance at winning a slam. Apparently she couldn’t sleep for 3 nights after that loss.

To go change her skirt. It was bothering her.
@rmcode
@rmcode 2 жыл бұрын
The original Prime commentary had her comments live and she was saying her skirt didn't fit properly and asking to go and change it and then she says 'it's my serve...right' which you can lip-read on this video, and so presumably she has the right to leave the court, which she does and and changes her skirt. There is another bit of commentary which is edited out here where the commentators remark that the new skirt looks even looser.

1:14:17 - I Love her... but Raducanu should Not disrespect her racket (or the court) in such a way... It is the instrument of her victory... and it is either part of her... or Not. Granted it was a highly emotional moment for her... But that is something she will need to tame...

Really is. The British commentary by the Amazon Prime team was so much better. Mark Petchey and Martina Navratilova were breaking down Emma’s game and exactly why Sakkari was over-hitting & serving poorly. Emma applies a pressure that is devastating to her opponent’s confidence.
