Really enjoyed this match. ...What TENNIS used to be. SERENA & Jelena displayed wonderful sportsmanship. i loved those long rallies & precision shots from both . It was funny because Jelena threw EVERYTHING she had, including the kitchen sink at SERENA. What i don't appreciate however, is when the commentators start acting as though they can read the minds of the players.

This was one of Serena's best Grand Slam titles she won the 2008 US Open Singles title without dropping a set and she played brilliantly throughout the tournament.

Before this she had 2 unsuccessful years,losing 3 times to Henin in the QF of three different grand slams in 07, then losing to Jankovic and also Venus in 08, but then she teamed up with sparring partner Sasha Bajin who helped her to win this and many of the following Grand Slam tournaments in 09 and 10. You're probably confusing 2008 with after-wimbledon 2010

Jelena would get on my dang nerves - always complaining when she played V & S that they would get tired and start taking too much time against her. Girl please. I love how JJ always complains about another player taking their time ! The server has up until the clock signals to serve …..a server doesn’t have to play at the speed of the returner in the game …. If a bell doesn’t chime that means the server still has time to serve

My Queen Serna.....Janca..I watch this live and I notice during the second set and before "J"..serve for the second set and the sit down Serna had her head down. Eyes closed..but "J"..was looking up at.the camera and the crowd...not keeping her constraction...and lost that second set..I mean she was playing the goat.

I had the chance to watch her live in one of her last matches. She wasn't herself. She played with Goerges of Germany in Rome and her signature shot, the backhand, didn't work very well. I loved her, loved her personality, she was super nice to the crowd always saying "hello" despite being herself (at the time) a 32 year old player with lots and lots of matches behind her (Venus Williams was also there that day and she didn't even say "hello" to none of the people who were there watching her practice... I saw Jankovic losing that match after having all sorts of advantages, against an opponent that she could beat... It was Rome 2017. I don't think she'll ever come back but if she came back now playing like she was playing in these years, she could have easily won 5-6 grand slam titles.

Absolutely weak era especially after Henin's retirement. Serena tremendously benefitted from that by winning 15 of her 23 majors.

Why, because Jankovic isn't an all time great, I guess? I mean Jankovic was world number 1 in that tournament, it's not like it was Serena way on top and she was facing nobodies. Jankovic had as many titles in 2008 as Serena. Easy to look back and discredit her because she never won a slam, I guess.

A very ridiculous and shallow statement. Justine Henin was excellent on clay, but outside clay she wasn't better than Sharapova, Kim or Venus. She won 3 non clay slams, and 2 of them were us open 2003, and Australia open 2004 which Serena Williams missed because she underwent knee surgery. Venus also missed the 2003 us open. The 2 sisters were the best during that time. So if anything at all Justine benefited from a weak era then. That's the only time she won back to back slams. And if that era was so weak, why did she fail to win a slam in 2010 including the French open? Most of the 2000s girls were fortunate that injuries, depression and pursuing other interest disrupted Serena's schedule between 2003-2006 which caused her ranking to plummet outside the top 100. Otherwise some won't even have won a single slam. This era was far stronger than 1993-1996 when Sanchez Vicario was Steffi's main rival. You guys can take your bitterness elsewhere. You don't have to like a player to appreciate greatness. I am a Roger Federer fan but I appreciate Novak Djokovic's greatness.
