Adding to the USPS issue: When you get an INR case, immediately open a missing mail request. It may not always do the trick, but it can potentially help get the tracking moving.

Back in the day it wasn't easy to get a job with USPS. You had to pass a set of written tests to even be considered. And I think a lot more training was also given after you were hired. And Veterans were given priority. It was also known as a high paying job with a great future. Not so much these days.

Last week I asked a USPS supervisor why everything is showing up late, because the last few months have been bad. He said fedex stopped moving the mail for USPS on October 1st, and they're struggling without them.

I'm so glad you had a good customer. This happened to me early on in my ebay selling career. I was out over 300 and the customer never once tried to send back or pay for what they got. It's scarry when you're new and lost that much. I was pushed into reselling. I didn't walk for 4 years and had many surgeries over that time. I can now walk but still disabled. Currently I'm surprised anything is selling in my store. It's 4th quarter and should be the best time but I'm moving back into my house after a fire. So every sale I get is a small blessing lol.

When you put in a lost mail claim you should request package be delivered back to sender. Why take the risk? After you refund the buyer its yours. The tracking will show the change request once its delivered.

We had an item that was “delivered- handed to recipient “ at the EBay International hub. Buyer complained weeks later that he never got it. I filed a research request and asked him to start and INR report to EBay. I called EBay and they said it was “in processing” and to keep waiting. A month later, buyer says still no package. I called again- so did he. Now EBay says they won’t do anything bc the time expired. No had called them a week ago and told them this is bad customer service and both buyer and seller should be covered if they lose it at the hub. No luck. So annoying 😩

Ebay needs to start covering the sellers in the event of THIS specific scenario. If valid tracking is added to an order then the seller has fullfilled their duties to the seller. If Ebay is going to be the middle man for this transaction and benefit from the seller they need to guarantee the transaction including a failure by the shipping service to deliver the item on time. THIS MUST CHANGE!

eBay needs to stop guaranteeing items during a certain time frame as UPS priority Mail or ground advantage is not delivery date specific . I'm dealing with an item That was supposed to go to San Jose California but the postal service sent it all the way to Anchorage Alaska... It's closer to Russia now than it is the continental US... The USPS keeps driving up costs and giving worse and worse service... It's getting to the point where UPS ground is almost the same cost as ground advantage. If eBay is going to continue to allow this and do the guaranteed delivery aspect they should be the ones to eat the cost of refunds... As the sellers are doing everything that's within their control

USPS has been brutal indeed. Our late shipment rate has been getting smacked due to the packages being delivered late. We have been having to fight the cases so it didnt go over the 3% rate. I ship out every morning so it was not my fault. They have been removing the defects though which has been awesome, but it is annoying that it keeps happening week after week.

It has aways been my experience the deadline set by eBay will automatically be extended as long as tracking shows movement. I always just click the ask eBay to step-in and then they aways extend the time. They may add 10 days and then if item is delivered you have to wait the 10 additional days for case to automatically close.

I was told this morning at my post office that they were informed to tell customers not to ship on Saturdays if you need tracking. He said both Chatt TN and Atlanta GA distribution centers are having issues/delays. My scanned packages are not showing as received by my local post office. Its becoming a headache. I'm reaching out to all my buyers letting them know I ship within 24 hours, have patience, its on its way.

Whenever a package has arrived after refunding for me, my customers have not reached nor have they responded to my messages regarding the fact that they had now received and had been refunded.

I had an item sell and I shipped it along with a few other items. The lady contacted me saying it showed I had only created the label but not scanned In and she had not received it. I went and checked the other items that were taken to USPS on the same day and same resul, never scanned in. I have not heard from the other people but this lady is asking me to put a trace on it.i have never done that so guess I’ll have to check into it but man USPS is gonna cost me on this.

ya i agree, must be the sorting center or some hub a lot of their orders are going to. I just checked like 20 sales of mine shipped USPS and they are all getting delivered in 3-5 days via ground advantage.

we had similar issue and we asked seller for his email and sent payment via PayPal. it wasn't expensive item. Just felt we should try to reimburse.

I am dealing with the same issue. My item is a $180.00 vintage Olympics item. It was mailed out on 11-26 and still has not arrived. I opened a missing mail case. It was marked resolved "as it remains in transit". 2 hours later it miraculously updated tracking in Elk Grove Illinois. Nothing since 3 days ago. I can file a claim but I'm sure it will be denied. Customer has been refunded.

Can't ebay see it was finally delivered? Why would they not reach out to the customer and have them pay? Is there no avenue you can take if you would want to? I realize the customer is honest and it's a low dollar item but why would ebay leave you hanging? I've been lucky and have never had this happen without getting paid, sure would like a response so I can learn. Thanks

Of course you can . The cost of the merchandise & the cost of shipping get deducted as standard business expenses, along with the rest of your inventory and shipping expenses.

You can use PayPal to recollect the payment. Ebay allows- Ilast time iencounter same issue as you lonnie , I contact ebay they told me to deal with buyer outside of ebay- use PayPal or other means to collect back the money(not against ebay policy)

I don't believe it's within their policy, and if they should find out you got paid outside of Ebay after they refunded your final value fees, I don't think that would go down well. I don't think there is an official Ebay policy in this situation that allows sellers to get paid when an item shows up after being refunded, but there should be. The few times it has happened with me, I just took the loss.

I can not believe the issues you are having. Since Nov 1 we have sent out 1104 on EBay, 242 on Etsy, and 31 on Mercari and only 1 was lost for a week but then delivered. I’m sorry this is happening to you.

When customers Ive refunded get the item and contact me about how to pay, I will message them and relist it either way Private Deal Only and put the initials or first few characters of their eBay user name in the title and send them the link or item id number and mark it shipped once they’ve paid.

You could of easily recharged her. Just relist and send her link to new item. Than just upload old tracking number to new listing she just paid for and it will show delivered. Also not sure if you know or not confirm if the item you’re selling gets delivered after the fact that the case was closed and the buyer was here for me you can just contact Ebay # customer care give them a tracking number and show that it was delivered and they will refund you 100% of the time as long as the tracking number shows delivered
