I was on the Forrestal as part of VFA-137 during this cruise. I was a 18-year-old kid on the flight deck surrounded by Tomcats, A6's, F18's. The best time of my life. So hard to believe it was 30 years ago.

@@TempeSoldier123 thought so. Only deployment with Tomcats and 3rd time she transited the Suez canal. It's a shame, the Navy dumped a lot of money in her again only to decom her after a short term as a training carrier after Lady Lex was layed to rest. Last harrah for the Corsair as well. Good to see her with Old school aircraft ⚓ RIP FID!!

@@enricomandragona163 yeah. Not only that, but I read the Navy isn’t flying hornets anymore. On our Med cruise we have 18’s and 14’s. I was an 18 year old kid in the middle of the ocean watching cats and hornets take off and land on the flight deck! There was nothing like it.

I was attached to the VA 37 Bulls from 88 to 91. Got full flight deck pay, as an AT... both deployments.. So these images are very familiar to me. Looking back, these were some of the best years of my life. Made friends with Master Chief Schulman. I hear he is in a nursing home somewhere here in Jacksonville. I just moved back here after 17 years in Nashville. If I can find where he is. I'd love to go see him. Not sure if he'd remember me, but it would still be a cool memory. I've got so many questions to "ASK THE CHIEF.'

That was really slow go for the first 7 minutes there! I loved being up on the flight deck. My only fear was being dead center at the rear of the boat at the back of an F4J of ours, when everyone else started taxiing forward, and the super grease coated deck would let you slide where you don't want to!

That place on the flight deck between cats 3 and 4 is tha swimmin pool. Hoovers, Busses, Bent wing bug suckers, Tadpoles, Slugs, Stoofs, Wily Fudds, Scooters. Saw flight decks change from F4 to F14 to FA18. Floated on and around battle scared ladies, trudged many miles on flight deck. nonskid. Seems like errytime i see a naval depiction of ops or ports I almost always say 😊 wow i was there or did that or i seent it happen. Fair winds and following seas to to all who are or have or into the blue, semper fi, oooraaah!!!! And they dragging a sled behind the ship!!!!😊
