Those gunnersmates tho, never really saw them about unless we're firing a gun. Who puts the library below the mess deck!? It was fun, they even went out of their way to run a shellback ceremony. Somewhere I have the rolled up scrolls.

BT from 72 to 75. Called our engineering officer "coach" because of the supposedly uplifting pep talks he gave. Can't say it was fun but it was an experience.

I am a plankowner, came on board in 1968 in Bremerton, WA. I also attended the decommissioning. I wish you had more video of mess deck and berthing areas. It looked different 36 years earlier but great memories. Joined the USS Seattle AOE-3 Veterans Association. Great to hook up with shipmates and attend the reunions. ussseattlaoe-3.org
