Ustad ji is combination of emotional singing and artistry. Master at maintaining nature of raga which is a very difficult task to do but he makes it effortless. He never uses unnecessary ornamentation. He sings for soul which is felt by listeners. He stands parallel with our legendary singers like ustad Amir khan sahib and bhimsen Joshi ji. I am a fan of Hindustani classical. Became only recently and very late in life. I have been picking and chosing from KZbin and converting to .mp3. I have fallen in love with many singers and instrumentalists. Rashidsaab is one of them. I have never pressed any likes for any of them, even my most favourites. So please do not be disheartened. Let us enjoy the gifts bestowed on us by these gifted people.

The serene and soothing effect of the Vilambit recital is enhanced by the silent spaces in singing but which are actually continuation of the recital and which are filled by the supplementing accompanists. The same can be said of the Tabla creating a feeling of slow tempo with few sounds interspersed with large silent spaces. A very soothing effect on mind is generated when listening to such music. That must be the case why people compare the experience to meditation.

Yes! In an interview by INDIA TODAY on the eve of the new millennium (2000), Pandit Bhimsen Joshi commented that Ustad Rashid Khan, amongst the male vocalists, and Vidushi Padma Talwalkar, amongst the female vocalists, would be the two to listen to as the leading torch bearers of Indian Classical Music. I hasten to add that this was the tone, tenor and content of his comments; I cannot recollect the actual words verbatim.
