@fumesmusic1979 this is definitely gujri todi. it is very similar to miya ki todi whereas the swaras are concerned with the difference only being the presence of pancham or 'pa' in miya ki todi. even if this is so, both the raags are of very different natures and are sung differently. regards

This bandish is in Raag Miyan ki todi. Gujri todi and Miyan ki todi are very close but this is hundred percent Miyan ki todi. Please change the name of the video. You can search this bandish on internet ,Mann k panchi bhayye banvre in dhrut taal.

Hat's off to Pt. Chaturlal's Tabla accompaniment in this Khayal. Tabla has even dominated with its variations and Chakkardars and Tihais and tonal quality of Tabla with constant laya.

U. Amir Khan has sung well. But no body has commented upon beautifully played Tabla by Pt. Chaturlal here, with constant Laya and with lot of varieties and Chakkardar Parans and Tihais not generally found in vocal support, which has beautified this Kyayal. He was a great Tabla Player and also played with Pt. Ravishankar's Sitar and popularied Indian music.

Pancham is in the tanpura but not the rag. Khansahab also preferred 6-string tanpuras with a shuddha ni always present. In riyaz AK would tune the pancham to ma in the tanpura if he were to sing, say, Lalit. But then he'd leave the madhyam if he went on to other ragas, which drove me crazy. I think rehab is stronger in Gujari than in Miyan ki Todi, yes?
