This is Khem kalyan entirely. In YT, both Rampur version of NHK and Agra version of SHK are available, slightly differing in treatment of the same "piharva". NHK is more sombre. Of course, their gayakis are also different. There is a short but beautiful clip of Anjanibai Lonelienkar available in Vijay Parrikar archives. The one by KA representing Jaipur is much different with nuances of Hansadhwani.

The vilambit and drut were sung by Agra and Rampur musicians. Have heard recordings by Hafiz Ahmad Khan, Sharafat Hussain Khan, Purnima Sen (recording in a CD). It is unfortunate that this beautiful melody/raga is not heard these days. It has 'PNSGR' and 'SNPGR' chalans, but have to be carefully avoided from Hamsadhwani chalan. There is no Hem Kalyan here. It is likely Nisar Hussain Sahab picked it up from Agra musicians. He had recorded it as 'Kalyan ki ek prakar' in a disc.

Indeed, this melody deserves to be back in major circulation. As far as picking up the melody from Agra is concerned, I have no doubt that the origin is Agra but the Rampur version has minor differences and I think it is more likely the raga came into the gharana before Nisar hussain Khansahab thereby allowing some time for those differences to coalesce. It is still possible he picked it up from some Agra ustad himself.

It certainly predates Nissar Hussain Khansahib in Rampur tradition. Ustad Mustaq Hussain and Ishtiaq Hussain had sung it. In Agra, there are renditions by Ustad Khadim Hussain Khan. Interestingly the raga has significant difference in Jaipur versions sung by Kishori Tai and others.

I wasnt aware Ishtiaq hussain Khansahab had sung this beautiful raag, he is one of my favourite singers from this gharana and quite overlooked despite his prodigous talent. I wish I could hear a rendering of Khem from him in my lifetime.

The bandish is the same piharava maikain deho of the Agra gharana, which seems to be standard, and ONLY, bada khyal in this raga!

It was Khem Kalyan (both bilambit and drut) with the influence of Agra Gharana...

Beautiful khem kalyan (there seems to be no Hemkalyan). The gayaki, taans remind Agra gharana.

Hem Kalyan I heard was a Ravi Shankar creation or Allaudin Khan. Jaipur including Kishoritai has a great version of Khem; this is great, though.
