Insane insane..he is a real class..putting Jhaptall in Ruppak..blew me away completely. Let put him against our Zakir Khan Saahib or Swapan Chakraborty or Kumar Bose.

Tari Khan sahab is a wonderful player but with due respect I don’t think he’s in the class of the other players you mentioned. Why? Tari Khan does a couple of things really well, beautiful sound, liveliness etc. but that’s about it, there is not a lot of depth in his playing. The other maestros you mentioned are far beyond that. Just listen to Zakirji’s peshkar for example. The variations he comes up with, the creativity, the ability to be in the moment with any musical situation etc. Swapan da and Kumar da have vast repertoire of traditional compositions from their respective gharanas, and also make their own compositions etc. Playing Jhaptaal in Rupak (etc) is honestly not that difficult with a little practice. Things like this are at the end of the day gimmicks to please the audience (frankly). I do love Tari Khan sahab’s playing too but he simply does not have the depth to match the Indian maestros.

​@shivabreathes Honestly who are we to comment on these maestros? Who are we to say that a certain maestro has 'depth' or not? You may enjoy one person'a playing more which is fine but I don't it's wise to comment on whether an artist of such caliber is creative or not. They are all great.

I believe the Punjab Gharana, which can be more experienced in its purity by listening to Ustad Allah Rakha's branch of students, as the notes and bols are very clear, while the kaidas or fisxed compositions to not have a certain swing bu are straight-forwardly recited and played. However, in the Shaukat Hussain Khan branch, fixed compositions are experienced with more lively dagga-emphasized expressions- the Delhi Gharana influence, but their bols are very clear- like Punjab Gharana.

i have watched alllll of ustad tari khan and zakir films. ustad hands are in a different level. faster, more electrifying , smoother and on the tabla then zakir. ustad tari syeb is a international musical king that has taken tabla to a new level. this tape just shows the world that at a young age how great he was from the beginning. ustad zakir hussain great but not as well balanced as tari syeb.

wow you didnt know u could put jhaptal in roopak u must not be an experianced player. when you advanced your teacher will teach u how to mix tals in a solo. my gurus that passed away taught me Ustad Alla Rakha Khan from the pujab and Pandit Santa Prasad from the Benares.
