8 liters total capacity to be clear, not water capacity... theoretically. I haven't personally measured it, so ask USWE :D I also now have a USWE Raw 12 that I bought for Romaniacs. It works better if I need to carry something like a rain jacket inside.

which would you recommend for mountain biking? USWE Raw 8 or USWE MTB hiking?

USWE just released an MTB line, which is kind of between the ultra light weight Outlander and the beefy RAW. Out of the two you mention specifically, I use an Outlander 4L for mountain biking personally. It's very light, and I don't need to carry as much stuff as I do on a dirtbike.
