No, it is not. I got into their computer science program without taking AP computer science in high school!

@@gsoh9601 my essay was kind of a sob story (lol), but it was about something unique which I think helped. I qualified for auto admission which probably made it easier (although it doesn't guarantee admission to your chosen major). I also had participated in some computer-based extracurriculars, had good grades in my STEM courses, and had expressed a genuine interest in computers.
