This style of video has a weird analog horror vibe. It’s eerie as hell.

Technology is amazing. I had no idea they already had Snapchat back in 1965

I suggest you steer clear from "SnapChat" as it's clear you don't understand how social media works. Although, many seven year olds do...

The symbolism of a madman using a tall clock tower as a sniper’s perch is not lost on me (“Guess what? Time’s up, muthafucka!” lol). But then I got to thinking about architecture and the practicality of a clock being that high up. Who could even see the clocks?

If you'd ever been there, you'd know that half of the Austin which existed in 1966 could see them.

Bob Taylor Been there. But if you need binoculars to see the clocks on a clock tower, does that not defeat the purpose? I meant actually read the clocks, goofball, not merely seeing the building or making out that there are clocks on it.

@@TheRealCaptainFreedom it depends on your visual acuity, halfwit. I’m in my 50’s but slowly losing sight. My geriatric mother would probably be able to read the clocks.

Ramirez shot and killed Whitman. I don't know what they're talking about saying McCoy did it. McCoy didn't fire his gun but Ramirez is the one that killed the guy with multiple shots including one with McCoy's gun. Just listen to the original news broadcasts to find out what actually happened.

You are absolutely correct I was a 12 yr old kid when this happened but I do remember it was Ramirez that killed the sniper

Agreed. McCoy was there but Martinez and the civilian gentleman engaged the sniper. McCoy finally shot upon Martinez yelling “shoot” from all reports. A tragic day in US History.

And then there's Baba Wawa at the beginning, talking about "powice hewpwess, a wone gunman on the Univewsity Towwa." Gilda Radner was spot-on when she imitated her!

Wow those comments at the end blow my mind. The guy was up there for an hour and a half, because the fact that police couldn't get there quick enough. In reality you have seconds to act! Average police response time across the country is 3 minutes..... guess what? Police won't be there in time to save everyone. It's our job as citizens to protect OUR FELLOW CITIZENS when police are unable to.

Citizens came from all around and used their hunting rifles to shoot at the tower. Authorities believed the citizen shooters likely kept Whitman from committing more carnage. The police realized that once Whitman was shot, they had to keep hunched over because the shooting from the street level was still going on.

it’s pure mainstream propaganda. Citizens carrying to protect themselves goes against their agenda. I bet they had a lot more “yes” responses and just censored them out. If not then it’s confirmation that Austin is FUBAR in terms of the citizenry.

My God, no wonder, this presentation has an anti gun ad in it, that was the point of the covert op in 66', blame the one nut, while APD had to deputize citizens. We need more officers armed in Austin they said and less civilian gun access. Fittingly they do not show rapid fire succession clips from tower, Whitman at times fires 2 rounds seemingly to quick for only one person, and no, he did not act alone, that story he tied a rifle to edge so he could fire twice super fast is total BS. From 8/1/66 to Columbine to Parkland, nothings changed.

@Justin Herbutte If you desire to be informed where you are off base, see this -kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJ2tmoqift2Xnbs The shots are too fast for bolt action rifle, so the 20/20 story of whitman tying a second gun to the ledge was concocted. yet no credible official versions ever mention this tied down gun, so they typically cut out the clip in link, showing shots fired in an extremely rapid formation.
