So it’s not actually going over the sore spot, it’s right below that point as a buffer spacer per sa. I wish I could figure out a way to do this on my older dogs back hip.

It is not covering the elbow or hydroma. And it does not heal by being exposed to air. It is beneath the skin.

It heals because the pool noodle lifts the leg off the ground so that the pressure of the dog's weight doesn't injure the point of the elbow. Relieving the pressure allows the tissue to heal.
