The Utafiti Sera National Conference on youth employment creation, co-convened by The Partnership for African Social and Governance Research, Alternatives Africa, and Centre for African Bio-entrepreneurship, was successfully held from the 24th to 25th February 2022 at Windsor Golf Hotel in Nairobi with the overarching theme: “Leveraging the potato and mango value chains for economic empowerment.” The conference was attended by 126 participants representative of key stakeholders drawn from the National Government, County Governments, ministries, parastatals, local academia, state corporations, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), research institutions, private sector, and the public.
The conference covered an array of issues in policy and practice, including job creation for youth in agribusiness and agro-processing, assessing the place of Evidence in Agriculture and Youth Employment creation, policy and program spaces for youth in potato and mango value chains, skills training, good governance, innovative finance, and investment options and digitizing the agricultural value chain.
