The Utah woman who went viral on TikTok for being a “Karen” has accepted a plea deal for her actions at a steakhouse on April 20 in St. George. Ida Ann Lorenzo was caught on video yanking down a 19-year-old woman’s skirt inside the restaurant because she believed it was too short. Lorenzo and the victim did not know each other before the incident. The 49-year-old pleaded no contest to one count of sexual battery. Law&Crime’s Jesse Weber breaks down what happened to Lorenzo in court.

Total Amygdala Hijack on ‘Karen’s’ part…… I’m a retired police officer, either way you cut it no one has the right to touch another person in this manner. Speaking to the girl about the short skirt would have been the only course of action if Karen was concerned about the younger kids seeing her in such a state of dress. You don’t go about violating boundaries for the purpose of virtue signaling.

The switch is absolutely purposeful. She uses infantizing language to try and persuade the listener into seeing her as motherly or a parental/authority figure when discussing what SHE did, then immediately changes her language to make the listener sympathize with her about what THEY did so people view her as a victim being ganged up on. It definitely shows us how she views the situation in her own head! She must be tired from all those mental gymnastics 😂

To my mind it would have been less problematic to simply discreetly whisper to the girl that she was exposed in the rear and a minor was able to see more than she might want to show. Then let her resolve it herself. Under no circumstances is adjusting the clothing of another human being without their enthusiastic consent (meaning not coerced) acceptable. Working for the state prosecutor she really should have known that it would be seen as assault.

Most of what she told the police was straight up lies! She claimed the skirt was incredibly short, the young woman wasn't wearing any underwear at all, that the public were complaining & pointing, that the public supported her pulling the skirt down, that she'd had threats made against her online, that she never actually touched her (telekinesis at work?!) & other assorted lies & exaggerations. In the real, non-Karen world where everybody else lives, the skirt really wasn't that short, especially for a young woman of 19, underwear was in fact being worn, and - this is the clincher that proved she was lying - the young woman was actually wearing a pair of shorts under her skirt, so everything Karen said was physically impossible!! To think this woman works for the state is extremely worrying, and she should be placed on disciplinary, which I'm 100% certain she would mess up and end up in jail.

She needs to read the room. She’s dealing with a bunch of young ladies who have the attitude “We’re young, we’re hot, and you’re jealous” attitude. They have no filter or sense of discretion nowadays. That being said, you can’t do what she did. Is a skirt so short that your butt cheeks are practically hanging out inappropriate at a restaurant - absolutely. Again, trying to have that conversation with a group of ladies dressed similarly isn’t going to go well. At that point, if you can’t deal with it, or go to another restaurant.
@alistarrgalaxson5198
@alistarrgalaxson5198 2 ай бұрын
@ Whether you think young women have that mindset or not( which I personally disagree with as a young woman lol). I think she should’ve spoken to a manger instead of them. If the restaurant saw a problem they’d say something because yes a revealing skirt in an establishment where there’s families and kids is definitely inappropriate. I personally don’t think her skirt was THAT short for this lady to even be doing all this, especially touching someone smh.

She wasn’t jealous, she said there were kids there. It’s a family restaurant. *Yes, she should have JUST said something.* *But my thinking is, if it were a man exposing himself, the comment section would be a complete 180°.* *She could have tackled him to the floor and everyone would be applauding her.* *But you all seem to be really okay with women exposing themselves in public. If it’s a woman exposing herself, you just “mind your business.”* *ALSO AT NO POINT IN THIS VIDEO, DID THEY SHOW THE GIRL WEARING SHORTS. THE OFFICER SAW FOOTAGE OF THE LENGTH OF HER SKIRT, THE LENGTH.... NOT HER actually WEARING SHORTS UNDERNEATH. THERE WAS NO PROOF SHOWN THAT SHE WAS REALLY WEARING SHORTS.* *AT **12:46** Geraldo here, says the victim TOLD cops she was wearing shorts, and the cop saw video footage of THE LENGTH of the skirt.* *The shorts were never verified.* *So as far as her wearing shorts, the cops just took HER word for it. You all keep saying she was wearing shorts, like y'all saw them, and none of you did. Like, did y'all even watch the video?*

At 15:30 I've been a wedding photographer for a very long time. I've observed some "corrective" actions that I found appalling. A full-figured bride's maid was being announced in to a reception by the DJ, with her groomsman. A woman got up from her seat, walked out and grabbed the front of the bride's maid's dress and pulled it up with her hands down in the front of the dress. Claiming that she was showing too much cleavage. Then the dress grabber commented "keep it classy girl" as she then returned to her seat. I'd never seen anything like that and it was hugely embarrassing to the bride's maid as she had all eyes on her during that incident. I thought they knew each other, but nope.

A girl was behind me at the ATM immediately outside the restroom, saw it, said ‘I am so sorry’ and helped me fix it. There is a way to go about it that isn’t aggressive or weird. For me the situation was a sister helping another sister out. That girl may not have known that her skirt had ridden up. Karen should have just told her.

Not the other way around! They are hired to do a service for the public whose taxes pays their salary! Americans run our own country. We employ these people. We don't live in some weird democracy, dictatorship, monarchy, or anything else where the government is in charge! WE THE PEOPLE ARE IN CHARGE OF THEM! She is literally a PUBLIC SERVANT! She is supposed to SERVE us. To do a SERVICE for us! In exchange for payment FROM us! @@deb3373 Now let's talk about the whole reason policemen exist in the first place. You're starting a country. You and some others get together to decide on some basic rules. Don't touch what's not yours without permission. Don't hurt anyone else. Be honest. Do your part and pull your weight or else you don't get to eat. Right? Those are basic universal concepts. Okay, but what if someone does it anyway? Old Andrew down the road likes to steal Betties tomatoes from her Garden! So what do you do? You all get together and choose someone to go get Andrew and punish him with whatever consequences you've all agreed upon. Those people are Police. How do they get paid for this? Let's say you've decided to make everyone pay taxes. And then you'll pay for these police - and any other future jobs you come up with to serve the country / community's needs - by taking just a small bit from each person. And that still includes the people doing the jobs. ******** That still means that the police work for the taxpayers. That still means they are supposed to serve the community. Literally their only job is to work for the public when they're on duty. Now when they are NOT "on duty", they are not expected to serve the public. That's because they aren't getting paid by the taxpayers to do that job. ********** So do you understand now why it doesn't make any difference that cops pay taxes too? They still work for the taxpayers. Do you get it now?

@@deb3373 We have known for a long time that certain personality types are attracted to certain professions. For example, empathetic, compassionate people are typically drawn to nursing or childcare. Narcissists who require external validation tend to be drawn to acting - which is why Hollywood is so fill of crazy people who just want attention. Well, people with large pr fragile egos tend to be drawn to police work. They crave a position of power that gives them the ability to bully everyone around them. Some of them have always been bullies. Some of them were bullied in school and now they're angry so they want to take it out on the public in general. No. Not ALL policemen are egotistical bullies who crave power and authority... But recent studies estimate that at least 78% of them are. So your claim that "most of them" go into policework to help others is false.
