Love seeing you guys! Love seeing Zach driving! Years ago I sat next to a deaf girl on the plane, she taught me so much during that flight! I remember ignorantly asking if it was safe for deaf people to drive and she kindly told me that some people believe its safer because they're less easily distracted! Anyway it makes me happy to see how wrong and foolish I was then :) you guys are incredible parents, and Madison is so lucky to be learning ASL early on, when her brain is fresh and ready to learn!!!

seeing your daughter pick up signs is so fascinating! im hoping to be a dad some day and it's really made me consider maybe learning some basic signs at least for needs (like how Madison was able to sign that she needed a drink!). Especially because I'm planning on adopting or doing foster-to-adopt and i think it could be very helpful especially if the child may have communication difficulties from whatever situation they were in before. I'm also autistic and have moments where speaking and verbally comminicating is very hard and I think signing could have helped me significantly in childhood. thank you so much for sharing your beautiful family with us!!

Hello OurSigned World! Love your channel. Found it after the GMA segment. Like others have commented, I have a Deaf spouse. Been married almost 51 years. We have a lot of common experiences with you. I did my dissertation on hearing children with Deaf parents. The parents did not have intelligible speech and they had no siblings. The kids developed spoken English at the same age and the same way as hearing kids with hearing parents. Of course, they developed great in ASL, too.

I try to accommodate as many as I can when I am out and a bout. I have an assistance dog/service dog who helps me because I have autism and she helps me with that. One day at a shopping centre someone came up to us cause he was curious about my dog. I had been learning a little of Auslan (Australian Sign Language) and when he had signed that he couldn't hear (I understand better than speak any other lanaguage) I decided to wip out my tablet. I started to talk with him through the tablet. Of course he didn't have his glasses, which of course, I then enlarged the text so he could read. I so want to learn Auslan but the other issue is that I have a pain disorder in my left arm, which if I use a lot of arm movement, I get a lot of pain from. Maybe I need to pace and slowly increase the number of signs I need to do. Pacing is doing the thing you want to do without flaring up your pain. So for example- you have leg problems and find that you can't walk for long and the pain you experience increases after 5 minutes. So instead you walk for 3 minutes and slowly overtime you increase until you can walk for more than 5 minutes without causing pain

Because Zach prefers to be himself - when around family that doesn't understand ASL, Court does interpret for him, but why would they voice-over for him when people can read the subtitles? The point of the channel is to point out that there's nothing wrong with being different, so adding a voice-over for him would be taking away from that message.
