Whenever I listen to these songs, my brain always tacks on an "ammonite!" at the end.

I can only wonder how you got "What lies behind the mask?" out of, er..."Androgynous".
@OsirusHandle6 жыл бұрын
Androngynous in the sense that you can't tell if they are male or female, what truly lies behind their face; their mask?
@DoctorCakey6 жыл бұрын
J.A. Seazer uses androgyny in the psychoanalytic/mythological sense, not literally androgynous but hermaphroditic, as in a union of contrasts. In this case, Lucifer (light bearer) is also a "child of darkness" (Satan). I may not know what the song means, but I can parse that much.
@TheBeastBandit4 жыл бұрын
This translation is not meant to be a transliteration, but lyrics that capture the essence of the original piece with the events of the anime for context. However, I will admit that part wonked me a bit.
@romeokun30052 жыл бұрын
(And also, I think that your reply was extra appropriate because Shiori's duel song also talks about the (ir)reconcilability of opposites and twins and some reused words/phrases from this song... iirc. I think both use "kimagure tanjou", maybe.)
@blessingsara112 жыл бұрын
@@DoctorCakey Lucifer (angel) & Satan are meant to be androgynous as you can also see in Eliphas Levi to cite some; its a nice twist the "mask" statement but I prefer the plain original translation: lyricist/songwriter meant it that way for a very good reason; "ammonite" has also strong meaning & symbolism... Btw in the ending its Utsuroi (light & shadow) or Utsuro (hollow)??? This anime is total work of art, way much deeper than mighty lesbians (which I love) or stupid feminism as the only thing silly angry feminists see in it, Im telling you...

@trashking4713 жыл бұрын
The lyrics are still "poetic", idk why you're being so dramatic
@municipalorrery2 жыл бұрын
@@trashking471 some parts are kinda ruined in such a literal translation for example, the end is “a reflection of myself, it’s hollow (x8)” not just “emptiness”

It's in plain English... for people to understand. It's obviously going to lose some poetry when you blend it out like that. You can check some other translation if that's what you want
