This is a really REALLY good video. I've seen a lot of "pro being taught" videos and this is the best. It shows what an insanely good coach Grubby would make. He is SO good, and this discourse with another RTS expert (who is still a student) is the absolute best way for RTS viewers to understand a game. Seriously, this is amazing content. Please please do more of these. If you can find a teacher of this caliber in BAR I would support that, too. Thanks, Thermy, I've watched for a long time and I love this trend.

Reforged graphics are a HUGE improvement over the original low poly. What are you babbling about? For nostalgia reasons?
@raglock1433Ай бұрын
@@bobby4tw subjective reasons: wprse sfx, dont like the art style, worse visual clarity objective reasons: building sizes dont match up with real hitboxes, some sfx were switched between units for no reason, you cant tell elf buildings apart while they are being built because they all look the same, multiple death sounds for units making it more complicated to know whats happening and more.. edit: i think there are even reforged graphics specific bugs.

It's really cool seeing you dive into this really nostalgic game for me - and I feel good knowing that I could most likely beat you in an RTS! I'd never stand a chance against you in Starcraft but I played WC3 ladder for several years. Had my 2500 win icon for Undead with a 58% win rate! I'd like to see you give Undead a go! Undead's gimmick is similar to Zerg, with cheaper units that are typically weaker than units of equal tier to other races with a few exceptions. Their Tier 3 / Tier 4 units are some of the strongest with some drawbacks. Abominations are relatively cheap for their power, but they are large and clunky. Frost Wyrms are one of the strongest units in the game, but very expensive and have several tech requirements before you can train them. Necromancers are my favorite support caster, able to summon skeletons from nearby corpses - buff your units with an insane steroid and cripple your opponents priority units. I'm surprised he didn't mention building a scout farm. It can be a good idea to build a farm further out from your base to act as a 'scout'. It warns you about early cheeses / rush tactics, and your opponent will almost never take the time to destroy it the first time. It takes too long to destroy, so they will most likely rush past it to try and attack your economy - so it gives you warning and you still don't lose it.

I strongly recommend playing Warcraft 3 more. It's fun, and if you are looking for entertaining content, it's a gold mine! The variety of heroes and items create a lot of opportunities for crazy hijinks that would fit well on your channel. For example - just with human - You can buy a mechanical sheep from your racial shop. These are like critters and appear as such to the enemy, but you control them, and they provide you vision. You can buy a staff of teleport from the goblin shop that lets you teleport a hero to any unit you control - including a mechanical sheep. You can buy a staff of sanctuary from your racial shop, which allows you to teleport any unit home. You can even use the staff of sanctuary to send a zeppelin home - a zeppelin that can contain up to 8 of your units, including heroes. The mobility all this provides allows you to essentially be anywhere, anytime, and do anything. Also - arcane towers have an ability that lets you reveal any part of the map. Build a few of those, and you can see everything, and go anywhere, and do anything - hijinks ensue. Also you have a spellcaster that can turn anything invisible. There is a lot of fun to be had. I hope you make more WC3 content!
@yesman7898Ай бұрын
In a way, kind of the same as SC2, a lot of the same meta/ cookie cutter strats over and over again
@johanjof5613Ай бұрын
Yea like putting fire in the forest with the human elf hero, put mortars in that area with the help of a zepelin and destroy competely the base out of reach ahah. Or using sorceress invisibility on 10 mortars and sneaking them in your opponent's mineral :P I know many of those ugly cheese. I think with human you can make 10x more cheese than UThermy has in his repertoire for sc2.

The thing that makes me enjoy to watch Starcraft 2 more that WC3 even though I don't play either, is that SC2 decisions and plays are much easier to evaluate and have a sense of impact uThermal get into the mineral lines with 3 reapers? Sweet! Blademaster windwalks past the enemy and manage to buy some gloves of speed? Who knows what's the impact of that play I've watched both Grubby and uThermal for a similarly long time, but I didn't make any progress in understanding high level WC3 play

Damn, I’ve been playing WC3 off and on since release. I’m decent enough but I can tell your reactions, precision, and some elements of your micro are probably better than mine ever were. No doubt you’ll rise quickly. Though it’s a bit personal preference, one hint to help you control your army would be to put all your melee units in control group 1 and your range units in control group 2 (and casters in 3). It’s always felt a lot better to me. I think Grubby likes putting all heros in 1 but I even do range heros in 2. It can get a bit cumbersome once you start adding more niche units such as flying machines, mortars, or even air units..as having more than 3 groups is challenging to control, but I still really prefer this to having all melee/range in the same group. Usually I’ll put gryphons in group 1 too and mortars or flying machines in 3 (if no casters) though depends on what other units I have as well. Relatedly, it helps to have the militia you’re creeping with in their own group. Just make sure to unassign them/override the group when you’re done so you don’t accidentally bring them out into a fight later in the game lol.
