I love what you are doing! great commentary and fun play style. I always root for you in the tournaments. I was watching your second game and I thought: What if you sprinkled in more armor shred against queens and lings? Maybe disables and anti-armor will help the survivability of the turrets and the damage output of the hellions. I enjoy these videos a tremendous amount.

oh man i remember playing 4v4 back when sc2 first came out and massed hellions. They scale so well against most ground units when massed. i'd just roam around, surround an army and then roast it :D

Super glad to see you using the ravens as raiding units again! You talked about using the ravens more in early game, but think about what you were saying with the zerg just remaking drones. If you fly ravens in ones and twos you will probably kill a good number of workers, but you will have lost that energy to do real damage later, and your opponent just remakes the workers. Massing enough ravens to fly in, take out a base and retreat is better than slowing their growth because you'll never actually cause a setback killing some workers here and there. Still would like to see that first expansion as a planetary, to ward off stuff like early stalker pushes, but you are doing well with your style now. You are really getting into the feel of this build. Also, I could be wrong but I think in your first battle with the broodlords, you hadn't completed building armor or building attack range upgrades, hence the difference in outcomes.

What do you think about playing 2 reactor factories and 1 starport (instead of 1 facto + 2 starports) against 4 gate blink. Since you'll be able to outproduce him (in terms of hellions/stalkers) and possibly dive & try to suuround him. The 2/3 ravens you'll have would be just for anti-armor (and maybe disabling the prism). Cuz when I saw the game you lost (3900 mmr opponent), you just couldn't keep up with his stalker production (plus you kept loosing all your ravens)

When you split your Ravens and Hellions into separate squads in TvZ, maybe right click one raven on your hellions to clear creep.

Mass blink stalkers were pretty much the autoloss for Beasty when he tried this. They either hit before you can defend or pick off a few ravens and blink away from the turrets. Pretty rough. Outside of that, Raven harass to cripple eco was the way.

I tried mass ravens in coop as Nova using the faster starports. 3 missles and turrets with backup healing is amazing. tbf I did sprinkle in banshees due too the starport cooldown but honestly with an ally watching your back your ravens will be safe.

Wouldn't it make sense to not place the turrets right next to hatch etc. when trying to snipe it? I mean after all toss is not placing cannons right next to base when cannon rushing but tries to maximise its range. Especially with the range upgrade it might be well worth it to estimate the distance they can reach when placing them.

Yep. Once you get into the swing of it, and it looks like you're getting there, it's super satisfying. That range upgrade is SO MINT. Try some offensively placed turrets if you're facing protoss air as your mineral dump, as protoss won't want to go ground-army, and missile turrets genuinely does help with map awareness and slows them a lot. With range upgrade, too, missile turrets really does become prickly for them to deal with.

It is interesting how you ponder on using Raven opener in professional tournament. Meanwhile Lowko pointed out, how often TvZ revolves around many scans just to push away creep. Wouldn't it be better to build 1-2 ravens somewhere down the line and save minerals (by having MULEs instead of scans for creep control)?

Do workers auto mine at the start of game? In another video, the opponent was afk for 2 minutes but his workers were mining? I left that question on an old video but nobody saw it and answered and I'm still wondering about it because it has implications for pretending to be afk and a couple of those games could be really fun like Harstem has done in BGMWSS

Yeh they do, not perfectly efficiently at first, which is why you see the first actions from those with the apm is to split them manually and to make sure the closest mineral patches are all being mined before any of the smaller less rich ones behind them.

I recently came back to SC2 because I watched you play. But I couldn't find any zerg and TVZ my favourite match up. I feel like you can see them only on higher level because of the nerfs and how much APM the race requires. (inject larva, spread creep, control bigger than usual army)

Hi uThermal, why do you rarely use anti-armor missile when initiating a fight? Does the anti-armor missile still give negative armor or did the devs fix it?

Takes lots of energy. Against zerg not quite worth it as using that energy for turrets will shred through the zerg anyways. On the other hand you will notice he almost always uses it against Protoss, especially mass stalkers as they are armored units. Basically, the enemy's army has to be heavily armored to justify a heavy reduction in their defense, or else you will get more value out of turrets and disables instead.

I did the test using unit tester, it does not matter if the unit is armored or not. Explain by other words what it does its increasing the damage done to health or shields (if protoss) by 3 units.

@@dronmk2 I mean yes, seems I was wrong, if the other commenter's research is correct and it simply increases damage in every scenario (by making negative armor values). I almost feel that would make it very very strong adn should indeed be used at the start of any decent sized engagement. I always assumed that if a unit had 3 armor and was hit by the missile it would have 0 armor, but if a unit had 0 armor then it still had 0 after the missile. The description of the ability only says "reduces armor by value of 3" so only 'in game' testing would determine if negative armor values can take place.

Raven's are being reworked too so just makes you think how powerful they will become when they build faster and are cheaper on gas though the abilities are less powerful.
