@@surgeonsergio6839 I played a few games a while ago of the sc2 mod, mainly for the aesthetic part I like the Aztec inspired stone with trees growing out of it look and the hybrid Zerg and nature composition. But in general not essentially describable but that I’m not able to put my finger on an exact explanation which makes me want to learn more about the universe

I've been keeping an eye on Immortal for more than a year now and I really like the progress. I'm open to all RTS games, but it does appeal to me more than StormGate. Visuals like this in alpha are a great promise for the future and as far as I know they're really pouring a lot of effort into world building.

the world is more fleshed out than you think apparently they’ve played a PnP RPG campaign based on it. I played a bit of the stress test and I gotta say despite feeling less polished than Stormgate I was super excited. What no one talks about is the hotkeys. Everything just flows nicely from the use of space bar as an additional modifier to how the select all army hotkey works. To how easy it is to control an army on one hotkey.

Cool to see this game is still being worked on, I like this fantasy aesthetic a lot more than sci-fantasy (specially the Aru). I do remember trying this out a couple years ago, and thinking it had a lot of potential, but then Stormgate got officially announced a week later. The timing was rough then, and it seems so much worse now for them to compete. At least they're not bound to Epic Games Store from the grant they got at the time, so they might have a shot in a few years.

Did you see the "preview" campaign, they even show the models...quite unflattering manner. I hope they replaced them get an artist to make a render instead in the full release. What they're doing is very derivative but parts are worse version.

In terms of game design, immortal and Stormgate have an incredible amount of overlap. They identified (mostly) the same problems with SC2 and came up with a lot of the same or very similar answers. Them and Zerospace are the only ones I see actually trying to push the genre forward rather than pretending it's still 2010

That looks really interesting actually. Kind of unique thematically and the gameplay seems very dynamic and innovative enough to feel fresh. Even though I don't play much RTSes anymore, I think I will give this a try when it's out

Nah, it's not unknown, Stormgate just happened to be more active in their marketing. And were on Steam from the beginning, while first playtest of Immortal used Epic platform.

i believe the rate of unit production being so quick and dragging on the game is by design. They want a more dynamic game where even if you lose a fight, remaxing and coming back is possible. This should be friendlier for new players who can get easily discouraged by how punishing classic RTS games are.

My biggest issue is with the champion system. I like stormgate more because of the lack of champions. Its why I preferred SC2 to Wc3 and I have never been able to enjoy games that have the champions in an RTS, hopefully it can inspire more creators to make RTS games and we continue to see great products come out.

Why do these games look so much WORSE than SC2 or even BW? Why is it that the building and unit design has no inspiration at all and just looks generic and bland (SC2 is almost guilty of this as well). ..this one's a little better, stormgate and taht other one (cant even remember the name it's so boring and generic) the units all look like indistinct blobs created by a 5 year old

You are biased. SC1 units are big and the screen resolution is like 400x400 back on CRT so you filled in the artistic gaps with your imagination and didn't had to look hard to look at the designs. Every new RTS will bother you because from the get-go they are tinier on gameplay without zooming in for distinguishing between units. Stormgate looks like trash to me regardless, but on the other hand the other RTS just suffer from what I said before, or just actually have placeholder art since they are actually developing from indie like budgets (unlike stormgate). Even Age of empires 4 and 3 units look bad compared to age of empires 2 to me for this very same reason.

the title is silly because stormcrap, like every other starcraft clone is garbage..amd so is this title starcraft is a bad rts with it's maps with locked in bases and resources. go play warcraft 2 and rid yourself of this mind numbing benefit, as it leads to brainrot.
