We move onto Hi Utsuri with Shiro Utsuri remaining in the bowl to explain the different qualities we can expect from Utsurimono koi varieties with International Koi Judge Shawn McHenry. "Hi, in English is pronounced like - “He", translates as the color red but a much deeper red further described as “Fire". As you can see, each of these fish compliment each other as their colors look brilliant next to one another. Of course we believe you should have one of each in your beautiful koi collection.
Shawn explains that the sumi (or black) on the Hi Utsuri will react and change differently then on Shiro Utsuri further pointing out the the sumi can be more spotty or blotchy on the Hi Utsuri as opposed to the Shiro specimens. Very interesting……
