For anyone raging over 0:28, this is because squirtle extended his hurtbox downward with his tail during an attack. The hammer made contact, then squirtle snaps back to a more default position for the hitstun animation and launch. This is something that happens with characters a lot that extend their body for attacks.

it isn't exclusive to Limit Blade Beam, if a projectile hits fast enough, you can block the whole thing within the parry window. you can also parry Robin's Arcthunder and Thoron that way if you time it right.

hurtbox extension. Squirtle's tail was reaching down for an attack and got hit, but the hit caused squirtle to go into a different animation, so it looks like he was out of range

@@DANCERcow its... Not. It never has been. The hammer connected with Squirtle's tail because the player used Dair. The hitstun animation makes Squirtle curl up, and puts him at the center of his model. This makes it look like he was well out of range when he really wasn't.

@@r.p.g4026 Yeah, I think for projectiles with multiple hits, you only need to parry once, but for multiple jabs, you'd have to parry each one. Speaking from a little bit of personal experience.

I tested with Lucario’s Aura Sphere charge, and yes, multi-hit moves get automatically parried. It usually looks difficult to do, but also looks intentional, which is why it gets hype

The hammer hits him for 1 frame, but then, Squirtle’s pose shift into his "launched" pose (where his hurtbox isn’t in contact anymore) and the emphasis on that frame is extended by Smash Ultimate’s new visuals and it seems like squirtle wasn’t hit

At 0:28, it looks like Judge's hitbox is much bigger than it looks, but if you watch closely, you can see Squirtle did it's Dair, where it sticks it's tail down to attack, ergo extending it's hitbox into Judge's range. I've seen quite a few clips like that, where a move extended a character's hitbox into their opponent's attack, but then they snap back to their hitstun animation and it looks like it hit from really far away, wish there was a way to communicate that better.
