I'm surprised Kawi is positioning the Ridge that way. It's almost identical in size to a Defender and cost is almost the same. I like the 4 cylinder engine and the interior. Can Am and Polaris will have to upgrade the interiors of their machines and hopefully offer a 3 year warranty like Kawi does.

This is a Utility UTV, just like my Ranger Northstar XP 1000, god they even look very similar. So Far I like it, I'll give it a year to see how the reliability is and then maybe buy one. I hope Honda builds an enclosed cab unit now with AC and all the goodies, I use mine for work, so I want the Honda reliability. I've got 11,000 km on my 2019 Ranger, I run tracks all winter up north for work. I have had some small issues like bushings wearing out, only major problems so for have been a rear axle, 02 sensor, Clutch parts wore out & 2 wheel bearings. Tracks are hard on clutches, but I baby the machine and am the only driver of it. Overall I love the machine but not Polaris reliability.

I don't generally think (or care) about horsepower when looking at these types of side by sides. However, you got be looking at it on the Kawasaki website and came across this statement regarding how Kawasaki "rates" the HP......what fresh hell marketing is this? How does it really compare to the other cars on the market?? Statement from Kawi's website: "¹This vehicle's HP was measured according to ISO standard 4106. This ISO standard measures HP differently than the SAE standards by which the horsepower of many cars is measured, and as a result the referenced HP measurement may be higher than if it were measured by an SAE standard."

I was in one recently. It's absolutely NOT an RMAX. It's a work machine. It's boxy. The seat is too high. The steering wheel is too low. The a-arms are tubes. I went to get one today was so excited to get and when I test drove it I couldn’t have been more disappointed it rides like a tractor sluggishly and just not what I expected I drive the can am HVAC loaded H 10 I think it was so much better the clutch was way smoother and responsive I almost bought but back out last moment decided to keep my krx and just put a cab enclosure on it I want have cold air but will still have a fun machine can’t so enough how disappointed I was in the ridge for a 33k machine with a 116hp it felt like a tractor stayed up all night dreaming bout taking corn to the deer feeder and still being able to ride casual easy graded trails and this machine can do it but if you wanna have fun in a field with machine or wet road this machine sucks it’s a tractor is what it feels like
@ggreene264222 күн бұрын
I agree. I test drove the Ridge and sluggish is right on point. The engine was screaming at 15mph. I can’t imagine what it would sound like at 45. Hated the CVT.
@Hunterworks8 ай бұрын
I really need to drive one, all that RPM would drive me nuts and it says the clutch is fully shifted out at a low speed making the CVT have a short lifespan like the KRX. I think it should be competing with Ranger and Defender and both of them run roughly 2000 rpm slower. So since you like the sound of the engine, I would say I hope so as that is all I can hear on the video. Otherwise I honestly like it but only as an addition at my farm for a HVAC model

Your gripe is that you feel the Ridge is mis-categorized by Kawi?? Let’s say these guys are right and it doesn’t compete with the RMAX. It’s still a great offering from Kawi. I don’t get the hate…. They build very high quality products and it’s great to see them producing new machines. They now stand alone as the only Japanese manufacturer to offer an HVAC, fully cabbed machine. Regardless of what segment you feel it belongs in it’s an excellent offering from Kawi.

Drove three diff. models last week. Way noisier than I could live with. The engine just screams continually, I think because of the CVT. It drove like it was dragging a jersey barrier behind it. I really do like the fit and finish and the closed cabin of the Ridgeline looks top-notch looks very mechanical, functional I dig it.! However, the lower control arms are a joke = toothpicks just like the XP 1000. Also running 30 in tires on a 33,000 rig not conducive.... They should have beefed up the lower control arms go with 32-in tires piggyback shocks and then at that point yes it would compete directly with R max.!!.. It is what it is but I expect the powertrain to be just as good or if not better than the Honda talon. I might get one of these when iam in my 60's .....lol But for now, I am so I'm digging my Segway villian!... I think the most underestimated cheapest side-by-side out there!
