I don't mind selling Durán if we used the money to sign players like Athletic Bilbao's Oihan Sancet, Feyenoord's Santiago Giminez & the young Norwegian winger at Rosenberg. Do we need to upgrade Olsen? If so why when we have Martinez? Did we need competition for Bailey the first half of this season when he wasn't performing? Do we need quality depth at CB? Have we needed a RB to challenge Cash and to stop having to put Konsa there? The point is if Watkins or Duran get injured, how much of a drop off do you want. Watkins is 30 so is more likely to start picking up knocks. Duran is 20, far from his prime and is already pushing Watkins who couldn't have laced Duran's boots at 20 years of age.

They are different players and the reason why the fanbase struggles with this dilemma is because we want these goals that Watkins scores with the structure of play but we also want these worldies that Duran scores that take your breath away. Good morning. I believe we should keep Duran for many years, he has generational talent. I understand the PSR/FFP and with his value going up it looks more likely than not that we sell him eventually. If that is the case we should do it at summer when we have time to built the squad and not now with 3 days left in the tranfer window. We are trying to achieve our goals and get top 5 again, we cant make such a drastic change at this moment. As far as a swap deal with Felix honestly I think that it would be criminal. I get that Emery maybe wants Felix but the value of the players and their trajectory are not even close. I do really like Duran. His ceiling is immense. Watkins is my number one choice right now but I see Duran as the future. 2 years when Watkins is 32 Duran would be the main man and Watkins can come on and do what he does. Why are we going to sell the best talent possibly of his generation and in the process strength and direct vival. This surly can’t happen. Felix has never wanted to come to the villa. We are not even his second choice, how can we sign a player that doesn’t want to play for us. To sell Duran for him is such a massive downgrade. Instead of chasing more forward players how’s about we buy a centre back.

Sorry for the second comment but your point about Watkins needing respect should be put up in lights. You are so spot on. He will go down as one of our best players ever imo, certainly our greatest goal scorer. The disrespect he gets is so embarrassing, yet he quietly goes about his business. Duran has had one purple patch and even if we sold Watkins, it would only be a matter of time before Duran leaves.

As much as I would love to see Felix in a villa shirt unfortunately he's not for us. He's had so many opportunities to join us but he doesn't want it. I love what you said about Watkins....... I'm sure I've said it before Luke, I love Duran and think he is one of the most exciting strikers in the Prem, but, yes there is a but. I have a funny feeling Duran will end up like Pogba or Balotelli. Brilliant players but lose canons who upset the apple cart. You know what they say about 1 bad apple.......

Personally I want to see Duran at Villa for another couple of years at least, thinking it would be foolish to lose him now even for £80 mil. Sky is the limit with his potential plus Watkins is 29 now so I see him taking over from Watkins. Also if we lose him we’re a central striker light again. Theres no way Chelsea can value Felix at £55-£60 mil when they only paid £46 mil for him and to me his value has dropped since then as he’s done nothing !! Felix now £40 mil max and imo I don’t think he’s worth that. Why not buy Disasi if we were prepared to spend £22 mil on Bade then offer that for Disasi then as Buendia is off bring Felix in on loan so we can have a look at him and see how he performs, that has to be the safest option !! I don’t want to see Duran part of any deal then Felix turns out to be a disaster.

Whatever way you look at it Duran will be sold at some point, and with the constraints of PSR, selling him for 80M+ is a no brainer for the bigger picture. We're also in the fortunate position where Rogers and Malan can play as a 9, so it's not as though we'd desperately need to sign another striker; something you'd possibly address in the Summer.... get an understudy to Watkins who has a better attitude. We desperately need a central defender, and looks to be covered with Disasi. I personally think Rogers is best off the left, rather than in the hole, so signing someone like Felix to play that position is very appealing. UTV!

Agree with you; just my humble opinion but Ollie W will break 100 prem goals for villa, add the 100 plus goal contributions and you have one hell of a mile stone...JD is fabulous , he's absolutely bonkers as well - love him. For the balance of the squad though having another no10 - J Felix ?? would suit Unai's system and give us more options whilst keeping Ollie in the team. Its a very unique situation ... UTV

Felix is one of the most skilful and technically gifted players in the game. We're not going to get anywhere with the likes of Malen. Do you really think that Malen, on his best day, is going to take us to trophies or CL glory? We may as well go for relative wild cards now, since we have a very very solid foundation.
