Fagci has no version for users with stock eeprom and si chip ? I know. Not so many features with smaler size. But i love the tuning option without mute. I have only an K5 with SI Chip integrated bought by AliExpress.

How do I install this firmware in connection with the EPROM replacement? What do I need to bear in mind regarding FW installation with EPROM? Do I need to back up data from the old EPROM beforehand... etc.? How is the complete FW update procedure ?

Paul, thanks for the video. Which fw uploader did you use? I could not make upload with recomended K5PROG-WIN 1.26, it always disconnects in the middle of upload, however, I did it with stock quansheng fw uploader. The second issue I have, is that chirp module for ver. 241111 which is used for automated upload ssb patch, does not actually upload anything. According to fragmented instruction all over the telegram channel, the first step is download configuration from the radio, and upload it back. During this upload the radio patch should be uploaded and installed automatically. But after second download of config, the section PATCH is remaining empty and there is no reception on ssb. I have mod board V5. Please share your experience, maybe I do something wrong?

I have uv-k5 8 with si4732 v2.1 but when enter in lsb or usb mode the radio freeze in WAIT word, you know how to fix this? I replece the eeprom to 24C512.

Go to chirp and open with included .py file. Download channels from radio. Then find the table with settings in this project and look for "Patches" select SSB Patch. Then set other setting if you want, add some channels and upload whole project back to radio.

As far as I remember, this version has the SSB patch included already, or I think I installed the SSB patch in the CHIRP, not sure.

Hello Paul, thanks for the video. Is this UV-K5 has better sound (generally) than the earlier version (K5-99) ? My problem is the K5-99 radio has high-pitched sounds, its speaker is has high sounds. Thanks

All of them have almot similar sound. I think the very first uvk5 has the worst sound. By me best is so called uvk6

Hello OM0ET, thank you for this video, very informative. I would like to do this modification to my radio in future but one of the features I don't want to lose is the spectrum scanner. Does this Fagci reborn firmware version still have it ? What I would like to understand is if it works on the HF band and how many channel scan lists the firmware supports (now I have the NUNU firmware with support for 15 lists that allows to scan multiple lists at the same time).

Super. Verzia 2.5 aj s 2M eeprom objednane :) Zaujimalo by ma, ci je vhf/uhf cip pri pocuvani na HF odpojeny alebo ci je mozna prevadzka typu pocuvam na HF a pri relacii na VHF a otvoreni SQ sa prijem prepne na VHF. Kedze to vie jedno VFO na HF a druhe na VHF.

V tomto prípade DW nefunguje keďže na KV sa nedá použiť Squelch. Cize buď je na príjem VFO1 alebo VFO2.

@@OM0ET Original radio ma WFM cip. Ten funguje tak, ze pri pocuvani WFM ak dojde na VHF/UHF k otvoreniu SQ, tak sa prijem WFM prerusi a ide relacia z NFM. To iste pri stlaceni PTT. HF doska je namiesto WFM cipu, takze by to mohlo fungovat. Otazka je, ci to fw podporuje. Toto nie je DW, radio ma realne dva prijimace. Original aj modifikovane. Jeden NFM a druhy WFM / HF radio.

Why bother with HF on a h/h is never going to work any good if at all you won't be talking to Australia or India or America will you

The HF is receive only and the idea is to give you a handy and portable receiver so that you can monitor the HF bands without carrying a separate, dedicated HF receiver. For example, you may be working portable with a small transceiver and the K5 could be used to monitor other parts of the band to find where the most activity is.

I have heard Australia from Scotland UK . A T2LT throw up antenna while working and this small handheld heard New south wales rag chew on 11m 27.285Mhz.. Couldnt manage to take my whole rig of homebase equipment but threw this HT and the T2LT antenna quickly into the kids unused tupperware Lunch box . You're correct. CEC firmware has a low volume output on SSB. It's a config that should be corrected, but KD8CEC quit development of HF firmware. China market built many "mod" and circumvented this with a physical amp. This is a wrong approach. FAGCI set a correct gain and, for example, my own mod works flawlessly. I'm very happy with my radio and Reborn. I hope there will be a lot of future development. 73! IU3POA.

Yes, the very first Mod. version or V1.0 which has no AF amplifier on the PCB works with this FAGCI REBORN very nice. I plan to bypass this AF amp. and line an AF signal directly to the firmware. Hope it fix this issue :)
