Uvalde Police Stood By... Is There Legal Duty To Act?

I was a senior in High School for Columbine. My daughter just graduated high school June 25th. I just went a very long hard 13 years worrying daily my rural school district was next. She spent 13 years doing "active shooter drills." I was in Political Science 101 and watched the Towers fall after Campus closed because not a single person moved from their seats as the professor had a nervous breakdown about the Taliban, and none of even knew what he was talking about. Our town fell silent in Upstate NY for 2 days except for the constant sound helicopters circling the 3 nuclear reactors in our backyard. I sobbed watching this. My heart is broken for those children, families, that community and our country.

Hi Joe, Just heard on BBC news that an initial investigation has concluded. There were "multiple systemic failures". Nearly 400 officers were deployed. Are you going to analyses the report?

Hi Joe. In bed with my cup of Darjeeling, the champagne of teas, before getting my head down. Could it not be argued that the Uvalde PD technically are not a third party? Robb Elementary is a state school, the police are state employees, therefore they surely have a duty to protect state property and children for whom the state is in loco parentis? I am well aware these stains upon police uniforms may be hiding behind a law. I am equally aware that self-preservation is a strong motivator, but the way the only thing these cowards could do that terrible day was to harass and arrest parents was diabolically shameful. If any one of them had a shred of honour, they would turn in the badge they are not fit to wear.

There is an argument to be made - but it would fail. Additionally, the police have many protections and immunities from lawsuits and the such. They have governmental immunity - but you never know. Someone may try and some lawsuits can find exceptions.

Let me ask you this... would you of ran into that building with gunfire going on??? Let's consider all these people yelling defund the police and causing all the good ones to quit ... this is what you get when you take away all the protections allotted to officers... they are bow go8ng to.prison for shooting back so they dont syoot and bow their cowards??? Yall need to decide either you want protections or a safe space with your crayons!!!
