I wish all schools would go to the lengths this one did for their students, to teach the children one of the most basic skills in life. This is brilliant! What a surprise for the kids! Brought me to tears, too!

THE SHIFT STARTS HERE! Mindfulness and applied "consciousness" are the keys to the future. With more than 40 years of applying and teaching The Silva Method ("the next step in human evolution" . . Jose Silva, 1972), it thrills me to see this about to go "mainstream" . . . and starting with the children! Kudos to the Madison Metropolitan School District and the Center for Healthy Minds at the Waisman Center, University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Love this video. So glad mindfulness is catching on. One of the greatest things we can teach children today.

I'm a bit partial so I love the infusion of hip-hop in education even more than the mindfulness aspect. Both concepts are great though! I spent some years running after school hip-hop programs and love watching the youth come alive & find a safe avenue for self expression. Cheers!

I don't have a degree but I've self taught myself a bunch of spirituality, psychology and science through books, videos, people and experience. I also love kids and have a lot of tutoring experiences. I doubt it but I hope society evolves to a point where I am able to teach kids myself without a degree within this lifetime cuz sometimes I get so uncomfortable when I receive realizations and insights but no one to share them with...

I love this! I'm so grateful this has nothing to do with religion but everything to do with giving children a way to listen to themselves and understand their feelings!

I would really love a link on this page to the program that Amber is using! Excellent video. I love how they are practicing this at the craziest times of the day: exact same times for my 7th grade students!!

You should try to advice the kids to sit on a cushion, cross legged on the floor and pelvis slightly tipped over forward. it's more easy to rest with a back straight. It opens the chest and relax the belly too. It is possible to go more easily from a deep breath belly and chest to a natural and calm breath with just the belly. The back straight is very important in any meditation tradition. I love this video. Congratulations to the teachers

Very cool! My fiance teaches adult guided meditation classes, but perhaps this avenue would be one to persue?
