It is common to have white spot lesions following orthodontia. This discussion centers on a study to evaluate the effectiveness of three regimens for remineralization: MI Paste Plus (10% CPP-ACP + 900 ppm F-); PreviDent fluoride varnish (5% NaF (22,600 ppm F-); and oral home care.

white spots are caused by fluoride. use a non-fluoridated toothpaste, stay away from fluoride rinses. i use trader joes non-fluoridated toothpaste and non-fluoridated MI-Paste. My son is 11 years old and has no cavities at all.

iviewutoob what you are referring to is fluorosis...the white spots he is referring to is something entirely different. These white spots are from demineralization.

iviewutoob I used normal (fluoronated) toothpaste since I was young and didn't get my first cavity until I was 30, and that only happened because I never flossed. Granted using/consuming too much fluoride is not healthy (just like anything else) but I really don't think fluoride is the demon ingredient you think it is.

This isn't fluorosis, which occurs when the teeth are forming.

This is very thin and subjective opinion of this man. The real reasons of white spots appearing is very various. And demineralisation is only consequence. Learn materiel, man!
