This is so awesome! I'm definitely subscribing to your channel. I just had my virtual onsite on Tuesday (2 days ago), and feel very good about it though waiting to hear back. Regardless of the result, this was so informative and great as someone who's a new grad and at the stage of starting off their career in UX.

Hi Soy, thank you so much for sharing this helpful video. Could you please consider to do one video about how to practice English Speaking for people whose native language is not English? I really like your style which is to talk gently and confidently. Also, most importantly, to be well organized.

Thanks for liking this video! I think UX certificate can be a nice to have on your resume. In interviews, companies would primarily review your projects and your work experiences. I’ll post more videos to talk about how to prepare for UX interviews. Stay tuned :)

Hey Soy, may I ask did you use your portfolio website to do the portfolio review on the 2nd round with the google designer? Would you recommend prepare a presentation deck for it?

I used a deck for that round and yes I recommend preparing a deck for it. Here's a video of how to prepare for portfolio presentations: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2mccpR7odWkgrs Hope that helps!

Hi there, I just completed my second round on Tuesday; I'm hoping to hear back this week, but regardless, maybe this info will be useful (to anyone reading). I feel very confident and happy about how it went by the way, though of course who knows what that will really mean. I switched my portfolio/personal website to uxfol.io after using webflow; especially now looking back on it, it's something I'd definitely recommend even if those specific websites don't apply to you. (Basically, it was "super cool responsive web designing platform" vs. "very very simple web design format that's case study based and makes them the emphasis of your website". for me, it was such a great move to switch over to a much cleaner format that focused on my projects/case studies rather than having to worry about the visual design of my website or if it's responsive; basically throwing so much damn time into trying to make the website look fancy and cool rather than investing in presenting the WORK.) Even with pretty thorough case studies of each project on my website, I still did prepare a presentation deck and would *ABSOLUTELY* recommend you do too. Of course, it depends on how you naturally present and how thorough your case studies are on your website, but for me at least, on my website I uploaded EVERYTHING and described it as detailed as I could. (As if, someone reading only this webpage should be able to fully understand the work and process put into it.) So, in my case, presenting off of my actual portfolio website would have made my presentation so much longer, and I'd likely bury the lead of the real things to take away from the project because there's so much documentation for every step. If you presented from your website after practicing what you'll actually say a TON, it could work-- particularly if you're good at presenting things clearly, and you're not inclined to overexplain (like I am)-- because in theory all the information will be there on the screen but what you actually say will be really honed-in and clean. Frankly, only in this "best case" would I even recommend presenting off of your portfolio website-- for me, the level of documentation within my actual case studies and the fact that if I'm presenting based off of this fuller documentation I previously wrote, means that there's no way I can actually read/talk about everything because of time, but since it's on the screen and I'm on the spot I'll almost feel more compelled to go into more detail/cover it all when that's not the best thing to do. For myself, but also REALLY just overall period in general, I would recommend creating a presentation deck. First of all, it's a better and more thoughtful way to present-- you can have a single theme/palette in your presentation, potentially more so than when presenting your overall website, and you can curate the way that you deliver information-- you can make it more visually interesting and show that aesthetic sensibility about you. Along that same note, you absolutely want to create more concise, thoughtful and curated explanations of your projects. Share the explorations, important parts of the process, and the final designs; but the project's description in your online portfolio will likely go into MUCH more unimportant details. I don't know if this will help, I know it's unsolicited, but when you're at this stage in the process I feel like I wanna hear all of the different experiences/tips/input I possibly can!😅
