Persian language became popular because it was second language in Islam after arabic, but the true language is east aryan language which exists even today in remote part of Tajikistan. Tajiks and Uzbeks have common ancestors nomadic aryan people, some of them then mixed with Turkic people becoming Uzbeks.

I'm from Sokh, which is one the districts in Fergana, Uzbekistan. Our native language is Tajik, but all of our local people know Uzbek language too. There are many Tajik people in Uzbekistan, and many Uzbeks in Tajikistan as well. Therefore, there shouldn't be any difference or argument between them. May the friendship between these two nations be eternal. As Abdullo Oripov said: "Do'stu qardoshdir azaldan o'zbegim tojik bilan, Ikkisi bir bayt g'azaldan o'zbegim tojik bilan"

@@masyaf897 Language or dialect is sometimes a political definition. Is Portuguese and Spanish, a dialect or a separate language? Obviously, Uzbek is a variant of Turkic. Uzbek vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar have been impacted by Iranian and Arabic influence, so it's clearly not the same as Turkic spoken in the historical homeland of the Turks in the Altai Region. The same can be said for the language spoken in Western Tajikistan. They used to speak East Iranian languages in the past, and later adopted West Iranian Persian. However, substrate languages don't just die. They blend in with the new tongue and create a fusion language. And of course, there is the Russian influence.

@omen9431
@omen9431 2 жыл бұрын
Tajik is not a derivative of the Persian language, it is the Persian language. Also, no one uses 'Dari' to refer to the language of Persian, 'Dari' is just a term made up by Pashtuns because they don't want their country to seem similar to Iran. Same goes for Tajikistan, the Russians coined the Persian language of Tajikistan as 'Tajik' because they didn't want their colony to seem similar to its Persian neighbors, Afghanistan and Iran.

This is awesome, and think I learned quite a bit here regarding the contrasts and similarities between Uzbek and Tajik words. I was fortunate to be able to visit Uzbekistan and Tajikistan a few years ago, and it was fun trying to learn a few words and practice with the locals there. I can't say that I was good at it, but it was enjoyable to try, and the locals were very patient with my sometimes poor pronunciation. ;) I did notice that despite Tajik being a Persian dialect, that it had a lot of Turkic words shared with Uzbek, Kyrgyz, and other Turkic languages. I plan on going back next year or so, and maybe by then I'll at least be able to speak a sentence or two. Rahmat!

I wouldn't say it is the same. While cultural and ethnic influence and mixing is common. There are still distinctions. Tajikistan is Iranic and Uzbekistan is Turkic. Specifically Persian and Karluk respectively. They certainly are similar but many customs, practices and traditions are distinct. The attire and cuisine are similar but distinct too. Edit: I am aware of the loanwords of course between the two languages. And both have wonderful and beautiful cultures and that mixing is common

The Tajik language which is being spoken by modern youth is mixed a bit and sometimes contains Russian words. Anyway the the pure Tajik is being spoken by the state authorities, intelligence , media. Curious question. For people not too familiar with the region, how do people in the "stan" countries feel about being grouped together like that. There's a similar dynamic for Asian as people tend to group all the Asian nations (culturally) together even though in reality, they are so different: west, south, southeast, etc.
@dogeofgreatness2222
@dogeofgreatness2222 3 жыл бұрын
The "stan" countries are really diffrrent. The word Stan is derived from Persian or Farsi while a similar word also exists in Sanskrit. In Pasrsi or Persian multiple places have named stan. Stan(ستان) basicaly means homeland. So Uzbekistan means homeland of the Uzbek.Kurdistan as a part of Iran,Iraq,Syria and Turkey also bears this. And India was also called "Hindustan" by Iranians,Turks and their neighbours (such as Arabs). However I believe you only refer to the 7 stan countries in Central and South Asia excluding Hindustan or India. I hail from Pakistan and I'll try my best to label them. Pakistan= India's North-West frontier.East of the Indus the culture is predominatly Indic and west of the Indus it's mostly Iranic. But it's all mixed up. And Pakistan shares ethnicities with India,Iran and Afghanistan. Kazakhstan,Uzbekistan,Turkmenistan,Kyrgyztan= Turkic nations with predominantly Turkic populations. This area was populated by Iranic peoples which assimilated into the later Turkic peoples. However the legacy of those Iranic people grouos still lives on through culture,language,genetics. Samarkand,Bukhara,Merv were important centres of the Iranian civilization before being destroyed by the Mongols and from then on were populated by Turks yet even know the legacy lives on quite vibrantly. Tajikistan and Afghanistan= they almost the exact opposite. Tajikistan is a smaller country and mostly inhabited by the Tajik people and Iranic group. Afghamistan on the other hand is the opposite of the other 4 stans. It has a Iranic majority and a Turkic minority. The Tajik,Pashtun(also found in Pakistan),Baloch form the majority while the Turkic Hazara,Uzbek and Turkmen are a minority. Also before the Iramic peoples migrated into these areas the Eastern most strip of Afghanistan (Kabul,Kandhar) and the Western Part of Pakistan (east of Indus ) were Indic and culturaly a part of India. The Indian elements exist on either side of the Pak-Afghan border but the proper boundary at which Indic culture dominated has to be the River Indus (East of it) as the ethnicities align in perfectly. So in summary. The 5 stans of Central Asia share a common Turco-Iranic culture that also extends into Iran and Turkey. Add in Afghanistan to the list and the Turco-Iranic aspect remains the same. As for Pakistan it is culturaly more aligned towards India however it's Western provinces are closer to Afghanistan then India. So the answer has quite a complex answer but it's more then correct to say that Central Asia has a common culture varying in different aspects. Afghanistan also fits into this theme. Pakistan on the other hand has a tiny Turkic minority and it's Iranic people which are overall also a minority can also be found in Afghanistana and Iran. So if you include Pakistan into the list then Indic culture diversifies it. And if you include India then it's complexity doubles as India is so diverse in itself. And if you factor in every place that ends with stan in Persian or Parsi language then that will even include Poland and Greece. And also Islam is the majority religion in all 7 stans so that is also a common cultural factor and also HOW MUCH TIME DO I HAVE ON MY HANDS.

Nice video. Uzbek is a Turkic language, while Tajik is a dialect of Farsi, which is Indo-European; it's not even the same mega-family of language! Tajik in its syntax is closer to English than it is to Uzbek, but there is likely common vocabulary.
