@dooman230 yep, but globalization exist to a lower degree already in the past when for instance the Ottoman Empire (now Turkey) was also heavily influenced by the other Europeans (the more modern the times the more). And chocolate is an example of that. European explorers and colonist picked up from the Nahuatl (Mexico) the concrete stuff and word 'xocolatl' and exported it to the rest of the world. And this rest of the world now mostly decided to 'imitate' this word rather then making up own words. Making up own words happened sometimes with other imports like the 'potato'. Here the original name (Inkas) was something like 'papa' but the look and shape reminded Europeans much more to existing vegetables and fruits AND this also in different ways depending on the region which is why most named it after already known terms (usually based on a combination of 'earth/terrae/ground' + 'apple') .you had of course already back then a copy paste from more influential cultures (or trade routes). 'Tomato' is also similar to 'Chocolate' (also a Nahuatl term 'Tomatl''). But here you had some imitating the original while others also named it like something they knew (usually a combination with 'apple' - apple has often to be seen as a more general term for something which fits more or less) - but later almost everyone re-synced on variations of 'Tomate'. One also has to keep in mind that most vegetable today was refined by Europeans and got re-imported also to the countries of its origin. Mexico has modern European tomatoes, not the old ones. The old ones often were more yellowish and smaller in size which is also the reason why it was in Europe often seen as possible toxis (due to similarities to some toxic european plants with such fruits) and why often the germ 'golden apples' was used. Today almost every Tomato is red (and if not it looks more like still not 'ready') ...

Until roman empire invaded them (this is why english got latin words). Then Norman from french invaded england. The result is classical english that were popularize by Shakespeare in 14th century. What funny thing is germanic people actually came from turkey region. They migrate there between 5000 - 3000 years ago. Turkey and Mongolian basically cousin but the reason why turkey doesn't looks like mongol because turkey mixed with Arab, Persian and balkan people and this result modern turkey. The aryan race Theory got debunk, german under nazi party assumed they came from Persian because of germanic roots language is same as Persian but the truth is turkey are the one Who brought that language to europe under mesopotamia era. First, hundreds of Japanese and Korean nouns sound similiar because they originated from Chinese pronunciation (Onyonmi, Hanja). For modern words, many Korean words are directly transliterated from English just like in Japan especially with foreign terms. Also, many modern Korean words are similiar to Japanese because it was introduced by Japan during colonial period or influenced after eg Yasoku (promise), Arubaito (part time job) etc.
In the Philippines it is: 1. Supermarket - Supermarket 2. Park - Parke 3. Chocolate - Tsokolate 4. Red - Pula 5. Elevator - Elebeytor/Asensor 6. Cloud - Ulap 7. Sun - Araw 8. Snow - Niyebe You can clearly see the Spanish and English (American) influence on our language.
@nuclearhominoidea7 ай бұрын
So the second example of supermarket in chinese sounds like the turkish word "çarşı" which either means bazaar or the city centre where shops or sellers are gathered. Also the word cloud in chinese sounds exactly like the turkish word for wool, "yün".

The reason Turkish language has lots of common words with European languages (besides culture exchange throughout years: wars, mixing etc.) is during the last era of Ottoman Empire when the empire finally agreed that Europe surpassed them, they decided to westernize the nation. The Aristocrats started to speak and act like Europeans (especially like french). Then it affected the whole nation and as a result Turkish acquires today many words from European origin.

The reason Turkish has lots of common words with France and Italian is when Turks came to anatolia and settled after they did almost all of their trade with Venetians who where very powerful in eagean sea to cut Byzantium's custom tax income. After Ottoman empire fell Turkey gone through modernization in language to make Turkish modern language they recreated some old Turkish words and some were borrowed from French (Atatürk was fluent and admired French nationalism. )
