To those of you who are learning 3BLD, it's exhilarating and exciting be able to put on a blindfold and turn the cube with the memo in your head and put your hands down to stop the timer to see a completely solved cube (Especially when you turn really fast and get a sub-30). To compare that to the frustration of the learning curve of the lettering scheme, letter pairs, setup moves, and cycle breaks. Afterward just to get DNFs from forgotten memos, incorrect setup moves or just errors in general. I am triumphantly here to say that with carefull targeted practice and sighted solves, YOU CAN DO 3BLD! It's completely worth the frustration, only if you're willing to the work to learn it. P.S. Sorry that was kind of long, but it was also written to myself to keep me going on to keep trying to break new barriers (sub-27). P.P.S. Thanks to j-perm for updating his tutorial.

If I may make a suggestion for this: Don’t use wide moves for some setup moves in the edge stage. For example: T with wide moves would be d2 L’ I find it much better and faster to use slice moves instead so E2 L’ Full list of slice edge setup moves: A: M2 D’ L2 B: buffer piece C: M2 D L2 D: no setup moves E: L E’ L F: E’ L G: L E L’ H: E L’ I: M D’ L2 J: E2 L K: M D L2 L: L’ M: buffer piece N: E L O: D’ M D L2 P: E’ L’ Q: M’ D L2 R: L S: M’ D’ L2 T: E2 L’ U: D’ L2 V: D2 L2 W: D L2 X: L2 Hope this tip of mine helped, and have fun blind solving!
@JPerm6 жыл бұрын
Wow thanks for the new list! I'll heart your comment. I think it's not a big deal because this is only a beginner method, and wide vs slice moves is only a small detail. I agree your way is faster especially for E. Another reason is most people don't know which way E goes, and some people don't know which way M goes.
@yusufragab16746 жыл бұрын
J Perm I guess your point makes sense, but once the beginners to BLD get used to this they might need to find some faster setup moves, so they might use slice instead. Thanks for the heart too!

To those who are still confused with parity : If you have an even number of edge swaps AND corner swaps, you do nothing. If you have an odd number of edge swaps AND corner swaps, you do the parity algorithm after having swapped the edges. If you have an odd number of edge swaps AND an even number of corner swaps, it means you failed somehow. If you have an even number of edge swaps AND an odd number of corner swaps , it means you failed somehow. Btw to those who know CFOP, the permutation algorithm is an R perm, finishing with U' to align the blocks, the swapping edges algorithm is a TPerm (you can do JPerms as well to avoid hard setups), and the swapping corners algorithm is the YPerm, ommitting the first F and last F' moves) Thanks JPerm for the update :)

M is the top left of the R face, so if ur looking for P, you can go to the R face and "count" M N O P clockwise. For setup moves, I just remember the moves, and then reverse them. Ex. K would be F' R'. So when I'm doing it, I say to myself "F' R' " Then I reverse it using R F. Hopefully this is useful.

Dude, thanks. I started learning blindfold on 2x2, I was struggling with it through some tutorial but you explained it better. The hardest part was cycle break and it was hard for me to understand. After I got it, I bought 3x3 and decided to learn it as well. I jumped into your tutorial, checked how it differs from 2x2, and decided to give it a try. I dont know how long I was creating mnemo, but took me 25 minutes to solve. At first try! The hardest part were the set ups and resets. It was my first time with such edges solving. Also I had problem with parity algorithm, as I actually didnt know it and just memorized the sequence of letters to perform it. But I got it. Thanks for tutorials bro.

This is a small critique, but in the beginning of the video at 0:24 you make two statements. 1. The only moves we are allowed to do is swap the ace with any other card. 2. Now from here the ace is no longer in the buffer position, and whatever is in the buffer position we can swap this with any other card that we want. Now, I know exactly what you mean afterwards, but I had to stop and think about it for a sec and I questioned whether I perhaps missed something and re-watched it to make sure. I mean, you did say "the only moves we are allowed.....is to swap THE ACE" but then immediately afterwards this statement is negated by saying "we can swap anything from the buffer position (which didn't involve an ace). Since it's really only one rule, I would just say "We can only swap a card from the buffer position (no reference to ace or any particular card since it doesn't matter which card is in the buffer position) with any other card we want to swap it with." And then you can easily transition into your example with "BD" where you show the viewer how to interpret the notation quite nicely. Now, I do want to stress that this is quite minor of a point, but it actually was confusing to me at the time since the two statements don't work together. I absolutely love your videos and think you do a phenomenal job of explaining these different methods of solving puzzles. Also I really like the video work. Its really easy to see everything you're doing (good lighting, transitions aren't abrupt, etc). If I ever make videos one day I'd honestly be looking at your videos as a model of what I would want my videos to look like. So, thanks!

@batlin6 жыл бұрын
It took two more attempts... so, 17 minutes on average, without being actually blindfolded, and having the three algorithms written on a sheet in front of me :D

Great tutorial! I just noticed that the edge alg and the corner alg have a simple relationship. The edge alg is just (A B) and the corner alg is just (B A), where A = RUR'U' R'FR and B = RU'R' U' RUR' F'. This could be a helpful thing to point out to peopl in the tutorial to help people learn one alg if they know the other. I also saw a neat connection between the corner alg and the Y-perm: the Y-perm is just is conjugated corner alg: F (B A) F'. Cool stuff!

Amazing video j perm wanted to learn BLD...thanks and a question: i am averaging 23 secs on 3x3 i try to lookahead but keep staring at the pair i am doing i know how to solve every pair with muscle memory but want to fix this problem... Cant lookahead please help
@snprajwal6 жыл бұрын
Kartavya Gohel forget about lookahead for now. Keep solving and practicing until you can recognize and solve every pair without thinking. Try executing at top speed. After you get this down, slow down and lookahead. Do both, because people usually just slow down and look aimlessly at their cube. Hope it helps 😀

I understood what you were saying until the 'flipping edges' section which I am confused with. I used all the correct set up moves along with the switch algorithm and it's not working. I was working if you would be able to help. Thanks.
@JPerm6 жыл бұрын
if you followed exactly, then it should work just fine. there must be something you did wrong then?

How do I do the flipped edges case? (Like CIAQ?)
@intrer86016 жыл бұрын
Swap the flipped edges with another flipped/ unsolved edge (doesn’t matter which), then replace the piece you just move with itself, except that you flip it.
@novarl41155 жыл бұрын
so you make another piece the buffer piece ?
@JPerm5 жыл бұрын
no you just swap with CIAQ in that order. the concept of swapping is always setup + swapping alg + undo setup. changing buffer is never mentioned in the video
@novarl41155 жыл бұрын
oh so you just swap with c, swap with i, a, q. thanks!

did you see the memorization part at the end of the video?
@asapcubing73396 жыл бұрын
Where you pair the letters up like XE NI? I saw that part but I am having trouble thinking of what XE would be, and other ones like RG or FI, they all stump me... I start thinking of things that when i start solving i just forget right off.
@JPerm6 жыл бұрын
xenon, nickel, rag or redgreen, fire or fight if you think hard enough you can always get one! I think ones like QJ are especially hard, where you can either get creative (queen jack) or memorize something unrelated for it (like a monster that reminds you of QJ)
@JPerm6 жыл бұрын
and you shouldn't forget when you solve, as long as you make a good story out of it. make sure the objects relate to each other. for example, XE NI RG FI can be "I used xenon to create a nickel coin, dressed it in rags and set it on fire."

I had just finished programming in R the blindfold algorithm (old Pochmann) with setUP moves (corners, edges stickers ), Yperm(corners); T,Ja,Jb perm( edges), buffers in ULB and UR This program solves immediatly any valid cube scramble.
@mahditaghizadeh27754 жыл бұрын
hey. you know for edges we can also use j perm to swap with the UF sticker. that way we can use both t perm and j perm and our set up algorithms wouldn't get so complicated
@roykaith7345 жыл бұрын
Yah I know that but the thing is how do you solve it blindfolded?
