I agree.. One of the most fascinating exhibits in any of London's museums.. A few years ago, no photos or videos were allowed.. Fortunately, now you can visit and bring your camera along..

Wow .. I thoroughly enjoyed that, Vic! And beautifully filmed to show off the sparkling gems. I've long been interested in the Crown Jewels, but have never seen the V & A Collection before, a most of the Crown Jewels are on display at the Tower of London. Very few of these pieces have ever graced any modern Royals - many of them now being considered outdated, like the parures, stomachers, brooches, diadems, and golden chains etc. I was also interested to read that many of what were thought to be Rubies in these older pieces were recently discovered to be Red Spinel - which doesn't detract from their beauty or value, in my opinion. Many of the green stones were also discovered to be Chrome Diopside - which are now even rarer than Emeralds, as they're only found in Russia where deposits are rare, and they can only be mined for 3 months of the year due to freezing weather conditions! But what a feast for the eyes that was ... Thank you! Also, Qld is no longer locked down, our borders are open again - so when will you be returning? Soon, I hope! Kindest regards, Janell

Hi Janell, thank you for the wonderful comments.. It was very difficult to videotape these gems because I had to use a telephoto lens and because they were enclosed in glass cases.. These pieces here are historic pieces and date from Elizabeth I (mid-16th century) to Queen Victoria (mid 1800s to 1890 or so). Looking forward to my next trip to QLD once this Covid-19 nightmare is over..
