I miss being abused. It's weird, I thought the scars of my high school years would elicit rage and depression through the memories, but lately, I reminisce that version of me. I love how secretive he was, how emotional numbness distracted him from family affairs and student drama. Nothing seemed logical; everything was a lie. I want to feel stronger after the assult again and to embrace hostility not as a choice but as a demand. Crying nor pity were options---self-coddling who? I had to be strong for myself and others. I had to roll with the punches and isolate myself from pleasure to preserve what little sanity I had left.
