@@joshscott363 No because mobile phones only work with 1 microphone capsule. We'd lose 50% of the functionality of this microphone with a cable like that. Plus we still have the D3 and D3 Pro which operate with TRRS inputs.

Hello, I preordered the d4 duo and was excited when it finally came in. I tried using it with my insta360 one r, but the sound just doesn’t seem to be coming in. Troubleshooting: I tried hooking it up to my laptop and it works. I tried connecting my rode mic to the insta360 one r and it was working. I’m not sure what I have to do. Help!

Really cool mic with some really cool features. Don't think I would buy it right now since I don't vlog or do anything where I would need audio from the front and back but if someone asked me what mic to get for vloging, I would definitely recommend this mic to them. Also, that product video was pretty cool as well. Thanks for all the great work you guys are doing.

I wish the switch allowed for two channel front or back. I’ve noticed that when in dual mode, the crowd noise from the front mic drowns out the rear mic. This can be an issue for users importing footing into iMovie to edit.

Great new mic!! If say the mic was turned sideways in the hot shoe and the switch was flipped to record both front and back would it then be recording a L and R stereo image (obviously not X/Y or a true stereo mic pattern)?

Thanks for a great video. I am having a small issue while editing in FCPX. The front and back audio is coming from the left and right channel respectively. This sounds weird because the subjects were not placed to the left or right side of the camera, but rather in front and behind like in an interview. How can this be fixed? I saw your Adobe tutorial, but not sure how to go about in FCPX.

@@THELIFEOFCB You need to duplicate the front and rear mics feeds so that you have two double mono and then split the two tracks. I just got a Rode VideoMicro thinking it would pick me up well enough while behind the mic...it doesn't. Every time I turn the camera away from me I have to unmount and move the microphone around to face me. I can't believe that nobody has thought of this solution in the past, obviously when you're vlogging you're switching between yourself and what you're doing quite often. I'll have to try this out.

So my mic finally came in today, yay! The back mic is FANTASTIC...but I'm having some issues with the front. In particular, it has trouble with peaking. I film vlogs inside theme parks where it can be very noisy and I'll need to speak up, and it doesn't seem like it does very well with that as almost all my audio is peaked. It's kinda a shame coming from the RODE VideoMicro which handled that a lot better...hopefully I'm just doing something wrong or need to change a setting on my camera but I would love some suggestions. Working with a Sony RX100 VII.

Yes, experience the same thing. Shot an interview, with both front and back camera on at a noisy event. The front mic seems to pick up the ambiance and subject (2 feet away) sound equally. At some moment, the subject voice kinda lost in the ambiance. The back mic works well, but Im just like 12 inch away. My Rode too seems to be better in isolating the loud ambiance sound and my subject. It works well in a less noisy environment though!

Anyone with a cable/adapter solution for use together with smartphones ? I know that "TRS to TRRS" adapters exists, but I am told that these won't work, since smartphones only use a mono microphone signal. What is necessary is some kind of "audio interface" built into an adapter, that samples the analog stereo signal and transfers it to the smartphone through USB/lightning. Kan anyone think of such a solution ?
