I just had a playthrough where the paper press was like...the third to last blueprint from the study that I unlocked. The amount of mindless grinding to get it was almost game-killing for me. Agree 100% Same with Forge Floor, too, I think. Cause it's just too important, if a little easier to farm.

For me the paper press is really bad, recipes are so expensive. Best way I found to get recipes without grinding them is to send servants to assault camps for paper.

Agree, I'm gear lvl 70 and have 53 hours in game and just unlocked the paper press and forge floor.. the grind is real.

well, you do need the hearts they drop for the greater blood essence until you kill the Vampire Hunter, its a good idea to kill them for the hearts, and the possible recipes

Specifically the enemies around the bosses have a higher chance to have higher blood purity, and I've noticed the higher the blood purity the higher change to get rare items... For example I got a shard from a 90% purity enemy and candles from a 10% enemy.

@@KloppyLP from the study, yes. But since I'm going to need to farm Scrolls eventually as well, it only makes sense to start that one now and not waste the time doing paper individually too. Also for reference, the paper press was literally my next unlock. Some luck!

And especially on pvp servers, where the game is essentially a race to see who gets to late game first, I think too much is being left up to chance because someone who unlocks the paper press (and forge floor) really quickly is going to be able to blast forward to dark silver and dawnthorn significantly faster.

Paper Press should definitely be a thing from one of the earlier bosses. Maybe around Gear level 40ish. Not having paper press yet due to "bad luck" when you have over 30 recipes learned with scrolls already is kinda dumpster :D

My Man! your videos have been super helpful! When i got high enough lvl to go to the iron mine. I was lucky. she was fighting the undead dude. so i just mined iron, and watched/hovered mouse until i seen them both low and went in and took them both out. i was lucky and he dropped the scythe, and that is my preferred weapon with that spinning range attack. I was slacking on the cages, and only recently realized i have to fish to get some of the better "buffs?" for the prisoners, and i didn't realize i can get recipes from fishing. Keep up the great work. your help has been greatly appreciated!

We were playing the game and got "stuck" on the gate to 'Quincy the Bandit King', because we had no explosives. However, because we killed the bear, we obviously had unlocked the bear powers and the secondary attack is slamming the door open, no explosives needed. Getting to the bear cave might be a bit of a journey, but the fight is actually manageable. Not needing to craft explosives was helping us a ton. The bear cave is in the south east corner. Hope this helps someone out.

I am playing PvE to learn, made a bomb to get in first and didn't really feel the need to get in again, except that I did see a peasant caged with 100% worker blood that I thought might be good as my first blood cow. Already got the bear so I can just smash in and check now!

Fantastic guides! I'm just into mid game and this is going to help me a good deal. Also it stopped me from staying and farming paper in the low areas. Any chance you can do a video on when it is time to move your castle to a high level location and some tips on making the transition easy?

You don't need to move! You get 2 hearts. I've found it very helpful to have 2 bases both heavily walled up and next to impossible to raid.

@@cmdrm00s38 you get 2 hearts right at the beginning I believe. Open the build menu and you'll see you have 1/2 castle hearts available (if you already have 1 Castle heart made). All you need is the materials to build it. And an appropriate build spot. I have one base near the middle of the map and another way up in the north east corner. I recommend only using 1 Castle heart per base as you can upgrade them and extend each base pretty far.

Great video, really helpful. One thing I wish I knew earlier was that I had to summon the Rat. I'd have built a lab especially to summon him in if I'd known. As it stands I don't have any room for the fight to go down properly, so now I need to wait till I have iron ingots to get tier 3 heart before I can get my Rat Form. I had plenty of room as well, but I don't want to go tearing up my castle in any significant way... I'm thinking just saving the Rat this time around till I have iron is going to be best way to do it. I tried summoning him at the bottom of my steps (so paid full price) but he kept leashing and getting his health back with me not knowing where the boundaries were for the arena. you definitely want to make a big room with lab floor for the cheaper spell. My last mistake was logging off while he was summoned. I'm on my own server, so it shut the server down and he despawned. It's going to be a while till I have the fish and fish bones for another spell anyway to summon him in again.

This is so useful for the next time I start on other servers, I've been playing on Private PVE on my own just to explore and learn, and I was so confused that I just kept getting all the merciless nightstalker armor recipes except the vest, like I've received merciless nightstalker armor boots and gloves at least 4 times each. I still haven't unlocked it I just moved on to the Hollowfang armor set instead. And yes, I do have a lot of Plant fibre in a box doing nothing.. paper press here I comeee

@@SDGamer99 i can confirm when it comes to this gear its not the same as just farming a particular boss like the copper set. for merciless iron and merciless hollowfang you simply have to loot anything in Dunley Farmland area, (any boxes, chests, fishing spots, bosses, regular enemies can drop the recipes).

I feel like the paper press is kind of disappointing. 15 lumber per sawdust then 9 sawdust per paper means you need to grind up 6750 lumber per roll on the base table. If you're crafting the paper from scratch into scrolls, its 135 lumber per paper, 6 paper per scroll makes 810. Then 75 scrolls per roll means 1 study recipe is over 60k lumber. I know sawdust is literally garbage but I just didn't get enough out of it for it to seem like a big deal. I maybe got 2 or 3 extra rolls on the paper table and that was it for the whole wipe

Yes, this will slow you down, I was wondering if I was missing something, the workbench is key, and pressing bench. I used my paper up. I try to play games without any guides, input, video reference unless I am totally stomped. But here I am.

Wait, where and how do you get the paper press? I watched it back several times but never heard how to get it beyond just "get the study get the press". I've spent DAYS grinding scrolls and I've been getting nothing but duplicate blueprints for merciless hollowfang, and then usless building unlocks like vases and windows. I'm starting to think this supposed paper press is nothing but a rumor to get our hopes up... ;(

Games like these always benefit from hoarding anything you find that you cannot use rn, for later. You can never have enough of anything, even sawdust is neat for later towards midgame.

Thank you so much. I plsy alone and needed some guidance. I'm playing at a relaxed pace and have just gotten to about 38. I'm just realizing how to fight the early bosses successfully and trying to do then in order but won't hesitate to try one if randomly encountered. I just got the devoured last night. I had been wondering what to do with all my old gear. I even had a nice servant until a golem followed me home and killed him. Even if you play alone, keep your doors shut.

There's a boss you can kill that gives you the devourer, which is what you use to salvage things. But of course make sure you equip gear to your servants as well

In my experience, Meredith consistently kills the Undead Commander with > 60% of her HP remaining. Not sure why but this has happened across multiple singleplayer worlds and servers (sample size ~30 undead commander kills)

Every time I’ve done it she has like 30/40% maybe less I’d skeletons are around. I’ve done it like 10-15 times farming iron

TLDW farm scrolls until you RNG the paper press then win with every item in game unlocked. I love his content, going to try the tips on Octavian, because solo this struggle is real.
