Well done man, I like what you are doing with your channel. As an oldster I'll offer you some advice that an old pilot once gave me... and I'll charge you the same price too. He said "Aircraft rarely if ever repair themselves while in flight " so my free advice is when you notice your aircraft behaving oddly it's best to land ASAP and fix it otherwise you may find it beyond repair and in need or replacement.

Extreme turbulence has plagued every one of my endurance flights too. On 4S, you should be able to fly down to 12V with li ion, and still be able to do one go-around. you may be able to squeeze a bit more out of it in loiter, if you give up the ability to go-around. nice job hanging in there with the weather!!

Thanks!😎 Yeah, i’ll try to squeeze a bit more out the milliamps on the final endurance flight. Question: What’s your thought of a Twin Motor FPV UAV (Gemini?) in Twin Pusher (behind wings) configuration? Is a tractor better or pusher?
@FPVREVIEWS
@FPVREVIEWS 3 ай бұрын
@@AeroStuffFPV tractor better. It's never good to have something in the way of the slipstream. but at least in the case of the wing, (wings are incredibly efficient), and so you get most of the lost energy back, in terms of lift. putting the props on the trailing edge is good in one way, because the accelerated air gets to go free. BUT it has a huge downside, in that the pressure differential going into the prop ARC is the equivalent to changing the angle of attack of the prop blade two times each rotation. this will also make huge vibrations, especially at a high AOA of the wing, and even more at high G-loadings and at high AOA. it will vibrate the prop, and motor, and also the wing. also, with prop on back, you cannot have flaps in front of the prop. if you Do, they will probably be ripped off by the pulsing vibration and sucked into the prop. I went through this development with a powered glider in about 2008, and all of the problems went away when I switched to a twin tractor. it was also more efficient. A twin tractor nacelle is also structurally more robust and easy to build. That's why you see 98 percent of twins with tractor configurations. hope this is a satisfactory explanation. let me know if further questions. another interesting configuration is like the Eviation Alice aircraft, the one what recently flew with motors mounted on each side of the fuselage. I prefer to keep the motors as far forward.. which leads me to also think of the Cri-Cri ultralight. I made an autonomous aircraft for a friend recently with that configuration and It worked well. His motor mount struts were not streamlined, but that could easily be remedied. the further forward the motors are, you get to move the battery back and have a shorter nose and longer distance between the tail and wing. This is a good thing because you need the long moment arm to counter act the wing pitching down due to camber, and achieve positive pitch stability, with a low negative lift coefficient. the shorter the tail, the more downgrade you need, and it hurts effeciency. cheers and happy designing!

Weather! I was trying to get above the clouds in the mountains one winter and had my camera ice up. I figured I was through the clouds but couldn't see anything except bright light. So I hit RTH and brought it back but ended up flying in circles above myself for a 10 minutes to get the ice off the camera. Thankfully it melted as the landing spot is tight and I probably would have crashed it line of sight. Too many wires and trees. When I got it on the ground, I realized there was a fair bit of ice on the plane. Not all of it had fallen off as I circled.

Damn very nice! Your UAV took a shower. I was waterproofing a tent recently so I might help 😅 Two hours in such a weather, wonder what’s the flight time gonna be in good weather. Anyway, this is just beginning, imagine the efficiency in the future as new technology of batteries and chemistry is in development. I am patiently waiting for new cells but it will maybe take few more years until end consumer could buy it.

Can the antenna be integrated in the vertical stabilizer? I may have to seek through the build video, but you could try to 3d print some parts to get rid of those struts. I think Chessna has struts because the wing has to be thin in the center to fit on the roof. Or is it about spare ribs ? If you have any way to produce ribs on demand, then a triangular planform is always better than oval + struts.

Hello, I am considering making a plane like this, but I have some questions. 1 - Is it strongly affected by the rain? (Shorting out?) 2 - What happens if the UAV loses signal, does it return to home or just crash?? Thanks!
@AeroStuffFPV
@AeroStuffFPV 3 ай бұрын
1) The drizzle & rain significantly decreased it’s flying performance (less lift, thus more throttle) 2) The aircraft has GPS to fly back to it’s takeoff position when signal is lost (+15km range)

@valkyrie_workshop

Maybe you already know but can help others. An Airfoil has pressure difference, low pressure on the top and high pressure on the bottom. And naturally it wants equilibrium. The pressure difference is separated by the Airfoil obviously, but at the end - tips there is nothing that will separate it so the high pressure flows over the edge to the low pressure creating a vortex. Which not only reduces the lift at the end of the wing but also creating extra drag and lowering efficiency. The wing tips as airlines has are simply said a barrier for the flow to reduce the vortex. On some airliners now you can also see split winglets, those are cool 👌

The wind has zero to do with how an aircraft can remain in the air when looking at the power required. It would only matter if you were slope soaring and you arent. Zero. knowing this is a basic and when doing the work you are doing the basics are necessary.
@k0r0e0s
@k0r0e0s 3 ай бұрын
Well, not exactly. The wind produces turbulences, and throws the little airplane in all directions, so even to maintain level flight you have to actively counteract this all the time, losing efficiency that way.
