v1.13: Physically correct day night cycle - a polar day

Since v1.13 is to become the seasons update, the day/night cycle should also behave accordingly. I've now implemented physically correct behavior for this. Days will last longer during summer and shorter during nights, but this also means that the poles will have polar nights and polar days, also called midnight sun.

Nice. Pretty accurate (I know from personal experience; I live in the Yukon; this will be a typical night in about a couple weeks time...mostly...). The only flaw is that happens only in Summer....and in Summer we don't have snow, believe it or not (...hence the 'mostly'... ;) ). You'd have to be WAAAAY up north, far past the arctic circle for ice/snow to be there. .. Then again, you did say "polar day". In which case the sun never dips below the horizon...it just kinda 'bounces' along the landscape in a big circle. Oh, and no Aurora in summer. Of course, if this is Fall...yeah. Late fall (where I live, that's end of Nov and Oct), it's the best time to see the northern lights. Not sure how you'd go about coding that in though....good luck! :)

I approve and give my stamp of authenticity. (I live in the Yukon Territory...and yeah....if I go a couple more hours north, that's pretty much it in 'summer'...or, as we like to call it, 'July'.... ;) ). .. On the flip side, replace that sun with the moon for winter...or, as we like to call it, 'SeptemberOctoberNovemberDecemberJanuaryFebruaryMarchApril'... :) .. PS: Just to be a completion, Spring is 'MayJune', and Fall is 'August'. LOL! Ahhh...man...I absolutely LOVE living up here! Anyone that get's a chance to visit the Yukon and Alaska...do it! Just be prepared to move here a few months later (or never leave, as happens quite often).

So, I just found this game while looking for news on Hytale and I have to say that I'm amazed. Its absolutely gorgeous, tbh. I am curious about the player character models though, while I'm not complaining about the design, i am curious as to why they are the way they are...?

So, since the world temperatures cycles every 100,000 blocks, does this mean seasons are across the entire world? For example, if its summer at spawn, its summer every where else in the world?

There is seasons across the entire world but southern hemispheres have their seasons flipped

So, if it’s spring/autumn equinox at the equator the sun altitude will be 90º and during summer/winter solstice the sun altitude will be 66,5º?

It should be, yes. I implemented the simplified formula for the solar zenith angle from the wiki: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_zenith_angle#Formula Also using a planetary axial tilt of 23.4 degrees as its for the earth.

No, the world itself is still a huge flat disc. If you walk along the East/West axis you get roughly the same climate conditions. And for the North/South axis you have similar climate changes as when you walk N/S in real life but it repeats forever, each roundabout with new terrain. If you were to keep walking north forever the pattern would go like this North pole -> South pole -> Equator -> North pole -> South pole -> etc.. Tricky to explain in pure text form.

Well, you're in good company. Minecraft's an infinite flat plane with a sun and moon apparently circling around it's nonexistent edges at FTL speed so it's probably better not thinking about it. Plus you've pre-empted any problems with your cosmology by establishing time travel shenanigans as a baseline, so you can always blame things on that.

this is a stand alone game, it's not a minecraft mod nor does it use any minecraft code. now the character model should be swappable via a mod, but i don't know if there are any yet for that.

you could add the evolution of steam, and put a minecraft mod called immersive engineering but with the textures changed, then I would add metal blocks, concrete, metal fences, slabs and stairs. But you could also add these block options with all the metals already added in the game. this and my proposal. Goodbye
