Dont forget your rear top shocker bolts have no nuts on either😁🤘

Heart in mouth stuff when you started jacking the car up, just in case anything horrible happened! Well worth waiting an extra week for a suspension video - I've always found suspension interesting...I put this down to being a fan of vintage Citroens, not just being weird 🤣

That hose cover came out nice. Slot the end of the bolt slightly to use a screwdriver to hold and adjust while tightening it.

Excited. It's cold here as well. So take it slow.... We all need more hot chocolate.

Cutting a slot in the bolt is certainly one way to do it. You could also sand the 3mm you added with the brackets, away from the inner surface of fasteners to help retain the original locking portion, if that makes sense. Thanks again for sharing!

Two thinner nuts on one end while you get the other side seated. The outer one will act as a locknut. Then when one side is done up you can remove the thinner ones and put the proper one on.

Cut a slot in each end for a #2 flat blade screwdriver. While tightening down the nut, have a screwdriver on the other side to keep the shaft from turning. I would say cut in an Allen socket, but that's quite a bit more tricky.

I can think of 2 options for your rear uprights; option 1 - replace the bolt / stud with a longer one. option 2 - cut a slot in the upright large enough to fit nuts say, 50-100mm wide, then put a bolt in from either end. in essence replacing the 1 long bolt with 2 shorter bolts. you can put an arch in the top of the slot, to relieve the stresses and not produce a stress riser.

Put a little Loctite on the nut that is easy to put on. Wait and then put the other one on while holding the locked nut!

Grind a slot into the end of that bolt so you can hold it with a flathead. Best I can think of quick.

Hello! With regard to this week's audience challenge question, I know what I'd do. I'd get some nice Molies (self locking pliers, for US viewers), wrap the thread on the "right-hand" with fifteen layers of bedsheet to protect the threads, clamp on my Mole grips and use them to hold the stud firmly while I wound the "left-hand nut on as far as it goes, engaging the Nylock. Then I would fit the r/h nut, holding the left one with a spanner.

your problem with the two nuts would it be possible to run them up when ones in the right place weld it on essentially turning it into a long bolt
@davethedog007Күн бұрын
How about doing the looser of the 2 up to the required amount and then drilling and pinning it? That would stop it turning while you do the other side up.

How about drill and tap a 3mm hole through the side of one nut,screw the nut on to the right position screw in a 3 mm grub screw so it locks the nut onto the shaft,push it through and fit the other nut on the end.

The thread lock end shouldn't be flush anyway, there should be at least 3 or 4 threads beyond the plastic lock ring. I'm sure the "flush" word was used in error.. Does the bar spin if you pop the wheel back on and get the weight of the car on it? If it's an actual pivot point they should only be tightened at normal ride height anyway so worth a try. As someone else already said, you could slot the bar / rod, but I wouldn't put much trust in that, especially when it comes to undoing the bugger in the future. Is there room to slide a bolt instead? Another option could be a slightly longer bar with a hex cut on one end... maybe??
