Chapter 4 was such a clearly difficult and challenging chapter that it behooves us to break it down: First, all three actors of this crime - Miu, Kokichi, and Gonta - ALL had unclouded intent to murder, regardless of their justifications. This is excluding the mastermind for now, since their role is obvious and apparent. Miu was ALWAYS A THREAT❗️❗️ For three reasons, two of which you outlined. Miu, alongside Kokichi, was both the most paranoid student AND the least liked student. The third reason is why Kokichi decided to kill her, so I will leave that for his section. To get into Miu's head even further, we have to remember that 3/4 murders she witnessed were "random". Only Kirumi specifically targeted an individual, so Miu's calculated odds of survival only become WORSE as the killing game continues, since she was already disliked AND 2/3 blackened were indiscriminate and there are lesser and lesser students to kill. Angie was killed for MERELY being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Miu was so paranoid she did not even need a motive from Monokuma, that is how bad she had it. Also note: Miu 100% would have won the class trial if she was the blackened. Only Monotaro's file excavation saved their lives. Gonta was in a similar situation to Miu going into Chapter 4. By that point, the rest of the students had settled into his image of a stupid, harmless, sweet idiot... when in fact Gonta has insane intelligence, when you consider that he was developmentally setback by ten years and still managed to be an Ultimate of an academic field❗️ Entomology is AT LEAST an undergraduate study, and Gonta is the best high schooler at it. Gonta is naive, not unintelligent. He was manipulated, but like Gonta himself says, he chose to kill everyone in his turmoil, not seek another solution. Gonta chose to enact his idea without consulting others and despite knowing he was confused. Gonta chose compassion over truth... in a killing game. Also note: if you were raised in isolation for ten years, would YOU manage to become an Ultimate? Of a scientific discipline? "Gonta" is a genius. Now Kokichi... the main reason blame flows to him above Gonta and Miu is because he benefitted where they died horrible and excruciating deaths. Not only did Kokichi instigate a murder, which resulted in an execution, it was at no loss to himself❗️ On the face of it, Kokichi is distinctly self-serving by conveniently including himself with the people he is saving from Miu's plan by sacrificing Gonta instead. However, two factors come in here which we must consider if we are to be fair to Kokichi: first, as he stated, he anticipated Miu would somehow incapacitate him, so he could not sacrifice himself. Gonta's death ☑️. Second, and the third reason Miu was always a threat... WHY DID KOKICHI KILL MIU❓ Because she was the Ultimate Inventor. Miu was functionally capable of ANYTHING. She had INFINITE potential. And she succumbed to murderous intent❗️ Kokichi managed to pull information about the Virtual World from Miu, so he had two options: kill Miu when she thinks she is in control and Kokichi can secretly prepare a counterplan, or prolong her paranoia until she invents something entirely new, unknown, unanticipated, and dangerous to unknown degree... provoked by the mastermind, who was still free at that point for all Kokichi knew. Miu's death ☑️. There is a lot more this chapter contributes to, like Kokichi's character arc of increasing complicity in the killing game until he orchestrates his own murder, Kokichi's talent and his actions in this chapter, the continued Chapter 4 theme of sacrifice and what it means, Miu's role as the underappreciated genius and Gonta's role as the underestimated genius, and how the entire class falls prey to bias and preconceptions and how an entire class can facilitate murder. The killing game makes victims of us all❗️❗️❗️❗️ EDIT! And everyone is RESPONSIBLE for their own choices. That is the only proper division of blame.

Also people seem to forget about Kokichi's mental health. I mean, this guy literally saw the outside world, he saw his OWN motive video in chapter 2, these events literally destroyed his mental health. And the person he trusts - Miu - (if he didnt trust Miu, then he wouldnt ask her to make electrohammers etc..) is planning to kill him. We all know Kokichi is paranoid and has trust issues, of course it would cause too much stress if someone trying to kill him. That's his flaw. Because of his paranoia, he thought manipulating someone into killing Miu would be the best choice. Even sweetheart Gonta committed murder because he saw the outside world. I dont really think A person as mentally unstable as Kokichi would be very sane after these. His actions seems pretty realistic to me. Im not justifying his actions, but you guys should at least try to understand the situation he is in.

The thing that nobody mention when it comes to gonta is that he not once blame kokichi for "making" him kill miu since he knows that its his fault for going through with the plan (that he could have stopped doing at any-point ) and accepted the consequences of his actions but peoples act like Gonta had no choice in the matter and isn't responsible at all ( which kind undermines his character in my opinion)

Exactly! People just don't want to blame him, because he's an 'innocent cinnamon roll who can't do anything wrong', which is not true at all. They act as if he was too dumb to realize that for example strangling someone kills them, which is stupid and really rude towards Gonta, too. Because even if he is unarguably not the smartest character in the cast, he is not braindead, which some people seem to think he is. Even someone as "stupid" as Gonta would realize what killing Miu meant (in both consequences and the deed itself). Miu set the whole thing in motion by trying to kill Kokichi, Kokichi lit the match and Gonta was the one who threw it in a sea of gasoline (metaphorically of course xD)

Honestly I agree with this and Gonta also being manipulated. I mean I think Gonta did have a choice to say no and knows he should’ve, but he didn’t because Kokichi was his friend(to him, it can be debated whether Kokichi actually saw him as a friend too or just a pawn). Kokichi convinced him to go with the plan and he did, but Gonta knew he could’ve back out and shouldn’t have help him even he is his friend(people can have friends that are toxic which can cause them to be manipulated, but once they know they are, can they stop it and fight back). All I’m saying that I think Gonta is mad at himself for not stopping this once he realizes that it was a bad call(I mean he also knows murder is bad too) even if it was to help a friend out, but didn’t before because he wants to help others and be nice to them like a gentleman, which is why he became Kokichi’s friend( a person who others distrusted and thought should be given a chance).

About the Kokichi post-execution thing, in order to stick to canon, think of it like this; there were 3 types of Kokichis towards the end of the class trial and chapter: Kokichi post-trial pre-execution, Kokichi post-trial post-execution, and Kokichi end-chapter. The 2nd person I brought up is definitely a lie and let me explain. Both Kokichis in the 1st and 3rd back up with each other. Kokichi states that "now is the time, I'll end this killing game", like he stated in trial. Why would the antagonistic, loves-to-see-everyone suffer Kokichi say that he wants to end the game? And then there comes the "Well what if he was lying?" What for? The audience? Kokichi wasn't sure of the theory at that point. To himself? Again, what for? There's no reason to lie to himself, that contradicts with chapter 5. So that alone concludes that he was telling the truth. Which contradicts with the 2nd Kokichi, the one who enjoyed seeing them suffer. And now we're left with the 1st Kokichi. That I believe to be the truth. By the sprites. As you guys know, Kokichi's sprites give off a good indicator of whether or not he's lying. Which he had in Gonta's final moments. TL:DR, Kokichi was lying after Gonta's execution. agreed. kokichi has the tendency to cover up any emotional moment he has by going with obvious, over the top stuff that basically mocks anyone who “believed this was getting to him”. it’s a manipulation tactic to push people away from him. one other instance of this is ch 1 after rantaro gets found. the shock of the first murder really happening, even if he expected it, got to him. but to keep up the facade, he ramped up his crying to the very top, so that everyone rolls their eyes, thinking “this is not the time to freakin mock us. asshole.”

Both Kokichi and Gonta would be safe of murder/execution if they left (which, apparently you can log out with the phones, i think Shuichi did so as well when Kokichi started being lovey-dovey to him.) Anyways, i just find it weird. Also, Kokichi manipulated Gonta into killing Miu. Not that he has no blame at all, but he honestly should be blamed WAY less than the other 2. Its like in 1-3. Hifumi DID kill Taka, but that was because Celeste said: That Taka had graped her That Taka was out to kill Hifumi That Taka had taken Alter Ego Sure we should hold him accountable, but when the person you trust the most manipulates you like that, i cant blame them too much. Gonta did kill Miu so he should be held accountable, but i blame Miu and Kokichi both 40% and Gonta 20% cuz yeah. It might be that im biased fir Gonta but i do understand him. I know where the other 2 are coming from, but yeah... anyways, i do agree with your video. Its either people fully blaming Kokichi, or fully blaming Miu, which also happens in 1-1, but everyone is to blame. Especially the mastermind-

Hey, thanks for making this. I really appreciate you holding Miu and Gonta accountable. Gonta’s my all-time favorite character and I love him, but I agree that Gonta should be held responsible. I think the really sad thing about Gonta isn’t that he’s stupid. He’s not. But he is GULLIBLE. SO SO GULLIBLE. He’ll believe anything that anyone says, no matter how ridiculous. He’ll believe that magic is real. He’ll believe that Kokichi loves bugs, even after being given audio proof that Kokichi manipulated him into the Insect Meet n’ Greet. And I think that he’s gullible not just because he’s a wild boy and is simply too trusting. He is, but that’s not all. It’s not because he’s stupid, but because he BELIEVES that he’s stupid. He’ll go along with everyone else because he doesn’t believe that he can make smart decisions on his own. As he says in the trial. “Gonta not really understand, because Gonta not smart boy. But if everyone say it true, then everyone probably right.” He’ll just blindly believe people, trusting them that their choices and plans will work out in the end. In the end, he felt like it would be easier to die than learn the terrible truth, so he still went along with the plan of his own volition. He still agreed with Kokichi that killing everyone would be best, and he still strangled Miu. But it just makes me so sad to think that if Gonta had just decided to think more for himself, realize that Kokichi could be lying to him AGAIN, and maybe try and figure out a different way to stop everyone else from learning the truth that didn’t involve murder, he could’ve turned Kokichi down and stayed alive.

While you make some good points and I do agree that everyone involved in this is at fault for this tragedy, there are a few points here that you (and others I've seen discuss this trial) make that give my brain a bad itch. Firstly, I don't buy that Miu was as big of a threat as the chapter claims that she is, at least not with this specific plan. Listen to my logic: Miu couldn't even convince the other students to even go into the virtual world on her own. Kokichi did that through convincing Monokuma to put that flashback light into the virtual world, which was the only reason the students agreed to go in. (More on Kokichi later). Plus, the class trial would not have been a cakewalk for Miu had she succeeded. Taking her arrogance and history in previous trials into consideration, she would have shot herself in the foot in a trial. Like you said: Miu is a very unpopular student within the group. Plus, the others didn't really trust her much to begin with, and her suspicious actions and behavior in the virtual world doesn't help either. Maki and Shuichi would have disproved poisoning just as easily as they did in the canon trial and it's unlikely that they would have chosen to trust Miu over Kaito due to their relationship with him and Miu's suspicious behavior (i.e. destroying the bridge in front of witnesses). Tsumugi is a bit of a wild card in this due to her "true role", but remember that she saw Miu on the mansion side and unlike Gonta, who saw Miu walk throught the wall, didn't lose any memory of the Virtual World. Lastly, you claim that Miu had been planning to use virtual world for murder since Chapter 3, but I honestly doubt that. Miu said herself that she spent the night preparing everything so I believe that she made her murder plan after the meteorite information was given to the students, making her murder plan more rushed than the previous ones due to Miu's impulsive nature. While I do respect the fact that your not downplaying Miu's intelligence as a Miu fan, this murder plan was FAR from flawless and it's not very believable that she could've gotten anything started WITHOUT Kokichi meddling with things in my eyes. I could give more problems, but that's more me ranting on how the writers chose to present Miu in this chapter rather than pointing out flaws and weak spots of her plan. To put the rant shortly: Miu's a threat "in-name only" and did absolutely nothing that made her feel dangerous to the students. (Barring details about the virtual world, tossing a sign into a river, giving herself mod powers that she barely does anything with, and just having murderous intentions do not make her an actual threat in my eyes) As for Kokichi, you don't bring up the ACTUAL reason he planned this murder. He directly referenced this murder in Chapter 5 during his final conversation with Kaito. Don't misunderstand me: I DESPISE Kokichi post Chapter 3, but recognize how cunning he was as a character. I just believe that there was more to this plan than people claim there to be and that Miu would have still been murdered even if she had no murderous intentions. My logic stems from two points. 1. Kokichi could not start his actual plan with Miu alive. Miu had directly refused to help Kokichi further than just giving him the inventions he needed. (Off-topic, but I think it's silly that people give Miu heat for not trusting Kokichi since 1. It's KOKICHI, 2. Miu had absolutely no reason to trust Kokichi, 3. Miu genuinely believed the inventions wouldn't change anything since she figured Monokuma would find out and the plan would fail (and she was right, but for the wrong reasons), and 4. The last time she gave another person inventions after being given similar promises, someone was brained with a shot put ball and she was the first person blamed for it). It would have been impossible for Kokichi to start anything since Miu could have just told the others she gave him the inventions had she been alive when Kokichi started his plan. Because of this, Miu either needed to be murdered or executed in order for him to get anything started since convincing her to help any further was off the table. Considering he knew that Miu was very close to succumbing to the game, it's believable that he probably would have allowed Miu to kill if she had targeted anyone else. He still would have felt guilty, but that wouldn't have changed much. 2. Kokichi could've tricked Gonta into murdering Miu even if Miu had done nothing. This is more speculative, but I believe that this is a point I must make. It is implied that the card key Kokichi swiped unlocked the door at the end of the Death Road of Despair or at the very least showed what was on the other side of it, so it's believable that he could've shown Gonta the outside world in a similar way he did with the others in Chapter 5 or even with the flashback light in this chapter. He then could've fed Gonta the same lie, Miu would've been murdered and we'd be in this exact situation again without Miu instigating anything. Once again, this is speculative, but a point I feel I must make. Lastly, I think you were accurate with your points on Gonta. While it's unfortunate that he was duped like this, the fandom has to remember that Gonta's not a toddler. He chose to go along with this plan, had plenty of time to consider what he was doing, and did something horrible. He's as much of an Ultimate as everyone else there and the other characters didn't genuinely respect his intelligence much like they didn't respect Miu's. Just because Miu had murderous intentions or Kokichi manipulated him does not excuse or justify the decision he made. The guy is still responsible for his own actions, just like everyone else. While it does bother me that Gonta went along with this so easily, I can understand the guy's mental state and how he would do anything to protect the others, as well as how that could be exploited. I made this point on another channel but I'll say this here and now: Succumbing to the game doesn't make a character "bad" or "evil". These characters are, at the end of the day, scared teenagers in a terrible situation where their insecurities, fears, and dreams are exploited for the sole purpose of pushing them to murder each other. If you read this far into this long comment, you're amazing.

I do agree Miu’s behavior and acting is terrible and that would have been her downfall. But nonetheless she would have still had good ways to murder Kokichi. In the virtual world, she made it so he would be defenseless. And the reason I believe Kokichi convinced everyone to go in the virtual world is because of Miu’s actions. She was acting suspicious so he knew her plan, but he also knew that if he didn’t go in the virtual world, she could come up with a better or different plan. And in that case there would be too many variables for him to risk. She could just give him a bonk and murder him, or invent something to do that job. Which would be suspicious but I have a feeling she would go through with a plan like that. As with Kokichi needing Miu dead, I don’t believe he did. Even if she agreed to not help him, he had everything he needed already to go through with his plan. Miu was more use to him alive than dead.

Regarding Miu as the blackened; Remember that she logged Kaito out so even if the poison was disproved, Kaito still would have had the most opportunity. Miu was a bad actress but the class underappreciates her!!!! She dropped the bridge, yes, but her testimony would have been that it was impossible to kill in the Virtual World without weapons. Remember that Shuichi needed massive hints to realise that the world loops... Miu's plan was indeed rushed and sloppy in execution, but she genuinely covered almost all her angles. Tsumugi and Gonta did witness her in the end, but remember Gonta witnessed her because of Kokichi directing his actions, and Tsumugi only had an alibi because she was with Shuichi during the crash. If Kokichi cannot be killed in the Virtual World, and his cause of death is indeterminate, it literally leaves only Kaito. Not even Shuichi would refuse that logic. Also, if she lived, I think she would have been at the computer to pull up the entry and exit logs and discretely delete the evidence of the hammer, cellphone, and the object settings on herself and the wall. Like Maki said, she had total control. Also, "just" having murderous intentions? How is that "just" anything? About Miu's threat level; she invented a machine that can teleport underwear... it is true that Kokichi needed to help persuade the group into entering the Virtual World, but if he did not... what is to stop her from inventing a "Decapitation Ray Gun" or something wilder, bigger, stranger, more dangerous? As you yourself say, her plan was quite rushed and messy, so instead give her a few days like Kirumi, and... who knows what she would have created.
@darkkirb2063 жыл бұрын
Firstly, you don't have to hype up Miu's abilities or what she could have done. I'd NEVER underestimate what Miu's capable of creating. If anything, your making me wish those scenario's actually happened. You're talking to a guy who genuinely believes that Miu could've killed every person there if given enough time and if she genuinely wanted to(*hint hint*). Heck, she doesn't even have to do it all herself, she could easily just find a way to hack Kiibo and make him kill everyone else besides her. Remember, she WAS alive when Kiibo's lab opened and we know what Kiibo is capable of with those upgrades thanks to Chapter 6. To put it bluntly, Miu is kind of overpowered. But this is just if you ONLY look at her talent-wise and DON'T take her personality into account. Miu is a meek, cowardly person hiding behind a mask of fake confidence and sexual innuendos. The fact that she didn't immediately attack Kokichi upon going to the roof like Sayaka did with Leon should show that she's no killer nor was she far gone enough to really do the things you say she COULD do if she had failed, at least not at this point. Your forgetting the fact that Miu DOESN'T WANT TO KILL ANYONE. She only chose this route due to her being too paranoid to trust the others and because she felt there was no other choice but to kill if she wanted to escape. As said in the original comment, Miu didn't trust in Kokichi or his plan, despite not knowing all the details. True, Kirumi didn't immediately kill Ryoma either, but Ryoma was suicidal at this point and allowed Kirumi to end his life. Meanwhile, Kokichi took advantage of how desperate Miu was to escape for the sake of furthering his own plans and manipulated someone who honestly had no reason to be involved in this situation to kill her. This doesn't justify what she was going to do, but saying that she was dangerous because of her talent and possibilities is presumptuous. Plus, I still don't see her as much of a threat with THIS SPECIFIC PLAN. The girl literally didn't see any issue with assigning Kokichi a room LITERALLY NEXT TO THE EXIT nor allowing Gonta to walk around outside the mansion when the entire crux of her plan was walking through a wall meant to disguise the looping world. This and if Kokichi somehow couldn't convince Gonta to murder Miu, why would he go to the rooftop when he KNOWS he'll be killed? He may be a lying jerk, but he's not dumb. To put it simply, Kokichi pretty much knowing what Miu was up to even before entering the world and finding about all this information about the Virtual World, some of it from Miu herself, and making Miu make VERY dumb calls completely derails her as a threat in my eyes in THIS circumstance. But, as said before, this is more me ranting about writing decisions surrounding a chapter I'm really not fond of execution wise.

@@darkkirb206 I was mostly agreeing with you that her plan as it happened was shakey, to say the least. I think my point is that Miu's first plan was good in a lot of ways because she genuinely is very intelligent, and bad in a lot of ways because she has no judgement. Kokichi knows she is a "senseless genius" so he capitalised on the lack of sense part before the genius could fully come out. Indeed as you say, like Sayaka, not fully committing to murder is what gave that opportunity to fail. If her rushed plan was still that good discounting Kokichi''s countermeasures, I do not think it is presumptuous to consider her far more dangerous if she planned for a longer period and allowed herself more time for her killing intent to solidify. I think you see the senseless part as defanging her, and I see the genius part as just a tip of what she could do. Would you agree we are both correct here? Regarding Kokichi, I believe him when he says he would have done it himself. But, I also think you are right that, barring the first option, he chose to integrate her death and Gonta's into his plans. Now it is ME who wants a scenario where Kokichi is the blackened of Chapter 4 and gives his hints in a Not Suicide Note to Shuichi after he is (or allows himself to be) convicted...

There are multiple was this could’ve just not happened, like miu couldve just not gone through with the plan even at the last second. Kokichi couldve just not gone to the roof and stayed around at least gonta, away from miu because he was aware he was going to be killed. Gonta could’ve declined. I understand that miu was scared to be killed and that gonta saw the flashback light and saw the “truth”, but at least kokichi (correct me if im wrong) didnt need to follow through with it. Btw sorry if my grammar sucks aslo im not blaming kokichi inparticular, they all contributed and all could’ve stopped it.

And then what? Iruma kills another person, like Saihara? She surely had the means to, she could have just logged Shirogane off. And then what? The trial would be a mess and i'm pretty sure Iruma would have gotten away with it. Saihara may be smart, but he's not a god, unlike Miu in the virtual world. Or maybe she would have created a second plan another day, one that Ouma won't be able to run away from. Now, i'm not saying what Ouma did was right, but i do believe that it was the best option he had in that situation, given he couldn't trust anyone to help him or even believe him. Iruma wanted to go outside more than anything, she made up her mind and was ready to kill. She rejected Ouma's offer of helping him end the game because she was too suspicious of her classmates and instead wanted to escape alone. Just because something in her plan goes wrong doesn't mean she'll give up just like that, she's really smart.

@@msobama-um2uj Good point! This also reminds me of chapter 1 towards the end of the trial. He said to Kaede "you lost to the mastermind the moment you considered murder as an option" (or along those lines). I believe he is against murder overall from his different actions and the indications we get during the game: his reason for exposing Maki's Ultimate talent, in his Kubz pad it is said that DICE is a non-violent organization, and other smaller details I find unnecessary to elaborate. So when history repeated itself and Miu also decided to kill, I believe he wanted to prevent that, and managed to "without dirtying his hands". (And the video raises a good point about his paranoia, it must have also played a role in his decision.) He must have thought that if he just stopped her from killing him on that specific occasion, she would still try again later on. And imagine the panic he must have felt from being someone's target, but that's besides the point. Anyway sorry for my ramble and for being 4 months late!

great video! this video once again awakened a question in me though. during my time in fandom, “head canon” has become a prevalent term that is used by me and many others very frequently. but where does “head canon” start and “reading between the lines canon gives you” end. for example, after your recent fandom HC video, I thought “this character does this and that in their freetime” because it fits their character? clearly a hc, but a good one. “this character is very anxious and masks it with brash, perverted actions” (Miu) on the other hand is something the game literally gives you so much indications on, so I wouldn’t call it a headcanon. I’m mainly adressing this, because I, like you, have similar thoughts and ideas about kokichi, and while yes, they technically can be seen as “HCs”, they are supported by canon actions and interactions. people always talk about how “show, don’t tell” is a good narrative choice, and I agree, finding that kokichi is one of the best examples for this narrative strategy, only in the end really spelling out his intentions before his death. but then people go back to “well that’s just your hc” when they can’t read between the lines. it’s kinda infuriating sometimes because I often see people who hate kokichi let that cloud their judgement, blinding them about facts *in the literal game* :/ ok I forgot the exact point I was going with this, it also turned into half a rant ^^’

I see chapter 4 kokichi as kind of a mix between 1-3 celeste and 1-5 kirigiri. there's a few key differences of course, which I'll get to in a minute, but I'll start with the similarities. *CELESTE* celeste planned out the entirety of the 1-3 murders, and was the one to give hifumi a motive to kill in the first place. she ended up turning on hifumi, which was not part of the plan she shared with him. *key differences:* celeste lied to hifumi. a lot. she claimed taka assaulted her, took alter ego, and was planning a murder. kokichi, meanwhile, only showed gonta the flashback light, that contained exactly what kokichi had seen with his own eyes. he told him the truth; miu was planning a murder, one that, if she'd succeeded, would potentially be impossible to solve, and kokichi would have no way to fight back. you could argue that kokichi wasn't convinced about the "truth" of the outside world and it was a lie of omission, but, again, he showed gonta _exactly_ what he had seen. he didn't make anything up. gonta saw what was in the flashback light, and chose to believe it and to comply. and nothing kokichi said about miu's plan was a lie in any capacity. he was in active danger. he knew that if miu got to him first, he was done for. *KIRIGIRI* kirigiri was specifically targeted in 1-5. she was cornered and knew she couldn't die yet (more on that later). in her desperation, she allowed makoto, the person closest to her, to take the blame and risk execution (luckily naegi survived, but she couldn't have predicted that, so she was ready to sacrifice him). she is regretful of this pre his execution and doesn't expect to be forgiven. *key differences:* nobody died in 1-5. the whole thing was a setup, and neither naegi nor kirigiri were at fault for mukuro's death. on the other hand, both kokichi and gonta (and miu herself) share responsibility for miu's death. on what I said about kyoko knowing she couldn't die yet, I believe kokichi's motive was the same. kokichi had been planning a way to end the killing game since probably the very beginning. if he died there by the hands of miu, not only would he not be able to put that plan into action, it's very possible that miu would have gotten away with it, and everyone else would die, just for miu to return to the destroyed world only he and gonta had seen (though saying that does make me wonder, why not show miu the flashback light? that would have voided her entire motive to escape in the first place. then again I wouldn't blame him for not wanting to be alone with someone who he knew was planning to kill him). I don't think the mercy kill plan was ever kokichi's real intention, but rather what he told gonta to convince him to go along with it. I say this because, well... he wouldn't have exposed him as the killer otherwise. I refuse to believe he's so petty as to do so just because shuichi pissed him off, with how meticulous his plans typically are (man wrote a whole ass script for kaito to impersonate him in chapter 5. he doesn't fuck around), and how he doesn't seem the type to let emotions cloud his judgement (considering how frustrated he gets with kaito for doing just that). that doesn't mean he didn't regret it, though. I fully believe his pre-execution breakdown was his honest feelings finally breaking out, and his whole turn around afterward was just damage control (and it always felt really fake to me. like immediately I was like nah. bullshit. you cared about him). he needed everyone to hate him for his plan to work, after all. speaking of his plans, miu must have been in on some of them, to a certain degree, since she was the one who built the electrohammers, electrobombs, the universal controller and the bugvac. even if kokichi gave her the bare minimum information, she must have known something was up, and probably not a murder considering the types of things he needed. still, she succumbed to her paranoia instead of trusting his plan, and that was her downfall. on a semi-related note, I kinda wish the game hadn't brought up the idea that putting the cables for the vr headset in the wrong ports could cause personality changes, because I've seen a couple people reference that as a way to further absolve gonta of guilt, when in reality it was just a hypothesis that was proven wrong by alter ago gonta telling his real motive. wow. I really wrote a whole damn essay on this huh. this just seems like a good place to dump all my thoughts on this trial because clearly I have a lot lol. thank you for making this video op, and I hope you don't have neck problems from having to constantly carry around that massive brain of yours.

How I view Kokichi's character in this story. I think being a liar he can see through people's actions as well as see the different angles of a situation. Why he tries being the mastermind the whole game, to end/win the killing game without anyone getting killed. When he finds out Miu's plan to kill him, he goes through all the angles. He could tell everyone but they know he's a liar and would just think he's lying. He could not go to the meeting or log out, but Miu already had the intention to kill and could've went after someone else and blamed Kokichi or Kaito and everyone else would've died cause Miu would've lied about the program. Having Gonta kill Miu and sacrificing both her and Gonta would've been the best option since more people would've survived. He does a similar thing in Ch 5, after Maki tries to kill him and accidentally shoots Kaito, he gives Kaito the antidote and has Kaito kill with the press and in a way that would trick Monokuma. I mean he could've let Maki become the blackened and drank the antidote, but he didn't. I do agree he was lying about not caring for Gonta, since I feel whenever he pulls the evil/crazy act he's lying the most and the rest of the time he's just bring playful and teasing. That's my opinion though.

I’d personally just split the blame between miu and Kokichi Gonta strikes me as a manipulated abuse victim in this situation. I find it extremely hard for me to blame him at all Gonta was manipulated. Manipulation isn’t just forcing someone to do it with a threat. Kokichi wrongfully convinced him that it was fr the better taking advantage of Gonta. People are saying Gonta could’ve declined, you’ve probably never been manipulated or abused before… It’s not that simple to just decline especially if it’s someone you trust. So, convincing Gonta to detain her with the toilet paper and exposing her plan using Gonta as a witness isn’t an option? Or tricking the others to come to the roof around the time he was supposed to meet Miu? Just saying he found ways to manipulate the others despite them not trusting him, so why not just expose what Miu was going to do in a way where they catch her in the act. Why does it HAVE to end with death when there are options here that just involves thinking outside the box?
@hardcorefurinafan3 жыл бұрын

@@hardcorefurinafan Then Miu's overall trust within the rest of the group would be completely destroyed since they would now know that she was going to murder Kokichi and the rest of the group would probably determine what to do with her afterwards. Most likely scenario is they would completely restrict her access to her lab and maybe have another character who's name isn't Kokichi keep an eye on her so she doesn't try to create anything dangerous. Listen, I'm not saying that Miu CAN'T become a threat to the others, neither in this discussion here, my original comment on this video, nor any other Chapter 4 discussion, just that her talent and plans don't validate Kokichi tricking someone into killing her and then ratting him out in the trial, only really showing remorse for it because said killer didn't remember he killed her and was being sent to his death for a crime he didn't remember committing because of KOKICHI'S decision to trick him, especially when a lot of these interpretations of Miu's abilities and what she could do go completely against Miu's characterization and the reasons she chose to play the killing game in the first place. Miu's not this "moustache twirling evil genius" who was out to kill Kokichi just because she could do it to escape, her reasons for her decision are more complex than that. And it's for this reason I say that killing her like this wasn't the way to resolve the issue. There ARE ways to resolve this without needlessly increasing the body count. Sorry if you don't agree with me, but that's just how I feel and what I believe.

@@hardcorefurinafan Oh, I am FULLY aware of his mental health issues, they just don't change anything in my eyes. Whether Kokichi's mentally unstable or not has no bearing on why I feel the way I do about his actions in this chapter. They don't change the fact that he CHOSE to do all this. Just because a person has mental health issues doesn't mean they get a free pass and can do whatever they want without criticism. Heck, I could say the only reason he HAD to have Miu killed was because he made a deal with Monokuma. He couldn't exactly not leave a body for the bear otherwise Monokuma would have began getting suspicious of his actions and intentions. This is also something that he CHOSE to do. The point I am trying to make is that him having mental health issues doesn't exactly make me want to look past him doing this to Miu and Gonta, especially after EVERYTHING they did for him. It's like saying that Kiyo was psychologically abused by his sister and their incestuous relationship was due to him being manipulated by her, so we shouldn't be appalled by him killing Tenko, Angie, and nearly 100 other girls to give her friends in the afterlife. i'm just saying that although i love this case, it has a few flaws 1) why did choking Miu in the virtual world kill her in the real world? I mean, yeah, it had to be possible to kill students from the virtual if she wanted her plan to success. But why wouldn't she program it to be impossible for her to die there too? She's an Ultimate, so she should've been able to do so. 2) Miu had made herself able to paralyze other students by physical contact, so if she had stepped back when Gonta started choking her she would have been able to paralyze Gonta and possibly Kokichi, which means she could have killed them both, making the trial even easier for her, since Monotaro wouldnt have revealed the tricks she used in her plan This is why I think she should have been a survivor or at least get past chapter 4, giving her some character development so that she could either take part in chapter 5's case or, as i said, survive the killing game (if I made any mistakes feel free to correct me! also sorry for my english in case I didn't phrase something properly, Im Spanish so i may have made a few mistakes ^^")

You are right there! But if that plan didn't work, she would have kept making plans until one did. Kokichi knew that one and would be able to do something in that situation, but her other plans would be more unpredictable and would lower his chances of survival.

@@Harukaluin19 I think it fits with her character, from what we see, she’s extremely impulsive and while she’s very smart, in some aspects of planning she lacks thought. For example her FTEs and her thinking she wasn’t a human

No! That wrong! Well, i think.. If I can remember clearly, I believe that when Miu was trying to get everyone in the virtual world, Kokichi was clearly trying to get people to go in, despite the rest of the students not wanting to. 1, he puts the motive inside the virtual world, and 2, he says things like “Get on your knees and beg” Thats not something you should say if you want to avoid death from the virtual world. It’s strange that everyone didn’t want to go in the virtual world in the first place, yet kokichi’s action actively pushed people to go inside. I understand why he couldn’t of told the truth, after all, no one would believe him, the compulsive liar. Sure, kokichi had no options in the virtual world, but he did in the real world. He could simply agree with the crowd when they didn’t want to go to the virtual world, he could not show up to the meeting miu made in the first place, or he could do literally anything except kill someone to save his skin. For someone who in chapter 2 did everything in his power to get people to watch the motive videos so that they can live, he barely tries to save anyone during chapter 4. Kokichi might have been victim when he learned miu was going to kill him, but he went about in the worst way possible. So yeah, kokichi takes a lot of the blame for me.
@LaiLaiVibes3 жыл бұрын
Actually I believe the reason Kokichi would push for everyone to go in the virtual world is he actually had more control there than you would think. Because of Miu acting suspicious, he knew her murder plan and a way to stop it. But if he were to act like he didn’t know, and avoid the world. That wouldn’t stop Miu’s murder plan, she would simply have to pivot to a different method. She has many inventions that are dangerous or could have killed him with an object. That would be harder to tell and could happen at any moment. Without the virtual world, Kokichi would open up too many variables that would end to his death

I personally think that this is how it is distributed Kokichi 97% Miu 2% Gonta 1% Like everybody acts as if Miu targeting Kokichi is random and so weird but the dude literally bullied her, and was rude to her only friend. Like the girl is gunna hate him, like... Also if Kokichi didnt say anything Gonta wouldnt have killed it's not in his Nature, people like to make the story seen like Gonta was this bloodthirsty monster since we first met him, but he himself says he hasn't even hurt a fly. I think that Kokichi is the most at fault because HE HAD IT COMING, like if you bully a person so bad where they feel as if the only way out is you die or they die, he isnt a good person. Also Kokichi isnt this person who cares about others, he shows time and time again that he dosent care about other people examples are; Giving Kirumi her murder video Harassing Kiibo Bullying Miu Telling a clearly upset Himiko that she murdered her 2 best friends Lying to Gonta to get him to kill Miu Blackmailing Kaito Revealing Maki's talent to stir up drama Etc Like he really had it coming for him, also Miu's plan legit could have been UNSOLAVBLE, we know that she planned on at least killing Kokichi, but from her viewpoint she would also want either Kaito or Shuichi gone, as they lead the class trials, but since she was tryna frame Kaito, it would most likely be that Shuichi and Kokichi would have been her targets, of course in this one Kokichi rither decided not to tell gonta or was killed before he could, it Is also possible I guess if Miu forces Kokichi to kill Shuichi and Kaito, as then even if somebody stumbles upon the bodies she dosent die, in this scenario nobody stumbles upon the bodies until after they are all dead, she then would kill Kokichi to get rid of loose ends by this point in the game thr only other survivors would be; Himiko, Maki, Tsumugi, Kiibo, and Gonta. Which would look bad for Miu, the 2 people who she would most likely try to frame are Gonta and Tsumugi, as It would only make sense for them to be the killers, or she could argue that Kaito and Shuichi where both killed by Kokichi snd in return Maki killed them. This would also be good as if she sets it up to make it seem like there are 2 different killers she could possibly create an alibi for herself with Kiibo, I mean they are friends and have eachothers back, and I mean also it wouldnt surprise me if beforehand Miu downloaded keebo's data onto her monopad so they could technically both escape. With that out of the way, Miu would have had a solid alibi (albeit fake) with Keebo, 3 different people to pin the blame one (the only 2 not being able to be framed being Himiko and Keebo) The one negative would be if she would do it in the neo world program, instead I feel like she would do it after, possibly she could have given Kaito and Shuichi some poison or a sleeping drug, to kill them off later, and if she was also using Kokichi she could easily have access to their rooms to pick the locks, and if anybody seen her out at nighttime she could argue that they are just trying to pin it on her as half the cast would basically be a suspect in one way really the only person who she wouldnt want to see is Himiko, but Himiko is lethargic anyways, and to clear up any loose ends it's also possible that Miu could drug everybody including herself, kiibo, and Kokichi but give them less amounts so they wake up earlier, then after the murder is done she could give herself some more sleep medicine so she could argue that she was asleep and woke up just on time like everybody else

Bruh Miu was bullying everyone. Why would you accuse Kokichi for bullying when Miu exists? Miu wanted to kill Kokichi because he is the smartest one here. Not because Miu was bullied, Your comment makes no sense. And also Kokichi didin show Kirumi her motive video, Kirumi had her motive video since the beggining. He bullied Kiibo because he thought he was the Mastermind since he is a robot, Monokuma and Monokubs are a robot too, remember? He didnt upset Himiko, he triggered her character development which is a good thing, and he was clearly spittin facts. >Blackmailing Kaito Again, so what? Kaito cooparete with him after hearing Kokichi's intentions and how he was trying to stop the killing game >Revealing Maki's talent The reason why Kaito and Maki got closer to each other is because Kokichi revealed her talent and Kaito interested in her. Maki was isolating herself from the group because she had a secret. She had a secret that she didnt want to get closer to anyone because she didn't want anyone to know her Ultimate. So that means - Kokichi triggered Maki's development too and also he made her more suspicious so that Maki wouldn't try to kill anyone. Your comment makes no sense. I didnt understand the rest of your comment.

@@zookeeps1340 when did Kokichi kill 5-6 people? The only person he killed was Gonta. I dont count Miu because maybe if she didnt try to kill Kokichi then she would've lived. Just because she doesnt want to seem weak doesnt excuse her behaviour. She made fun of Ryoma's traumatic past and this is absolutely terrible. You are too emotional, you dont even want to blame your favorite character like Miu and Gonta, and you are disgracing their character without realizing it, you dont accept their mistakes and flaws. And you are putting all the blame on Kokichi because you hate him and you see Gonta and Miu "angel". Act more mature, its annoying. And your reasons to hate Kokichi makes no goddamn sense.
