I think Fortitude is the essential discipline to make Gargoyls. Flesh of Marble is already described as I would imagine the stone skin of a Gargoyl would look like. I think amalgams of protean and fortitude are basically all that is needed to bring the Bloodline in to V5.

I completely agree. I hope the stone man story comes in at some point and we get that "all bloodlines" faction.

As cool and flashy as other powers are, having someone break their hand on your Flesh of Marble face, or their sword bend or chip only to leave some cracks on your skin which meld back together is the ultimate flex haha

lol, fun.

Funny, it never occurred to me, that fortitude has a mental aspect now. Don’t get me wrong, I have used the mind protecting powers before, I just have not made the connection. I find that especially fun since dominate has a physical aspect to it now too. They stress the fact, that a victim of dominate is aware that something happens to the body rather to affect the mind in many cases. Also, dominate is now part of the vicissitude amalgam. It can not go much more physical than that.

Just the idea that Vicissitude is the vampire Dominating their own beast... yes. Thank you for that.

I was wondering about Valeren too, but I am about sure that we get an offensive use too, probably in the Sabbat book, it just takes the power to be reversed. In the description of the Clan is something about the Salubris having the power to mend and to cause damage. But we haven’t seen lot of the later so far. It would make sense to have something like that in the Sabbat book since it would be a good example for what Achilli has described, a power that causes an horrible effect but also stains to the use, about which a vampire without humanity does not need to care. Irl both uses for the power make kind of sense, since the word in Latin (while not exactly) translates roughly in to being healthy as well as being powerful or influential.

Thank you for the translation. I hope we see that kind of thing in the Sabbat book.

@@VoivodeMekhet to me, a sidenote that says "btw, you can use this power the other way around to cause damage, but it causes you a stain..." would be all I need!

The system works great. Combat has never run smoother for me in my games in the past. We've even tried LARP adaptions.

While I do love the new powers for Fortitude, I am kinda ambivalent to way it's handled.. But I've always been kinda ambivalent.... It is the one discipline that has went through a LOT of iterations... Almost every version of vampire has a different one (the only thing altered this much has been the ability: Mask of 1,000 faces)... I prefer to take a little from Dark Ages Vampire and a little from Vampire: dark ages v20; to cobble together this discipline.... BUT I do like the new APPLICATIONS of this ability... Because like most of the physical powers, this one is usually just taken to be "more supernatural".. So it kinda was just a "point sink" that didn't have a lot of use for RP... Anyway, I wanted to ask what's your favorite flavor(ver.) of this one?
@VoivodeMekhet2 жыл бұрын
I must admit that the 5th edition evolutions of Celerity, Fortitude and Potence are some of my favorite additions to VtM. Where each of the disciplines have grown in their own ways and added to the game the three physical disciplines have not only kept their main uses but have also grown into areas that are all knew but also make sense.

@@VoivodeMekhet The only thing I've always had a problem with them before was thematically... Like from a "character's perspective"... How does activating one of the abilities feel ANY different then "blood surge"??? When Potence was more telekinetic I could see it... But now? Now it just seems like "I concentrate on hitting harder"... Which is kinda BOTH (the surge and the discipline) But then again, the other powers of potence never got involved till lvl 6... So.. meh.. That's why the ambivalence.. Fortitude always was just "the vampire's timelessness.. It NEVER changes", Potence was just "supernatural might" Celerity was just "the body moves exactly at the speed of thought, because it's dead, so muscles and tendons don't matter", so this is "supernatural animating force"... All these reasoning is for "combo disc. or Amalgam powers" of course... Anyway, thanks for reading. .

Thanks for the feed back. I'm actually in planning for a whole new series on the disciplines. Level by level and completely in-depth.
