Might also mention the forms to use that VA prefers. Buddy statement 21-4138 and Lay statement 21-10210.

How do I reference a VA appeal court case in my Lay statement? Wasn't my court case, but I'm trying to get an increase on a condition that the individual in the case received.

One of my claims was deferred...says undertaken for development for clarification of the VA examination which is not yet complete...have u ever heard of it and how long can this take...gave me a zero partial percent rating

When the VA can grant, sometimes they grant and defer the other conditions. There is no set time frame for deferrals.

My husband is a Viet Nam vet and 80 years old. He has just received an increase in his disability rating to 80% following decision on claim filed 2 years ago. Is there anything we can do to get him a 100% rating? His ratings are for SC PTSD, COPD, ISCHEMIC HEART, TINNITIS, DIABETES. Any info will be appreciated.

This has got to be the most funny part, to me, of the claims process, I'm told I have to write letters, it sounds more like a 5,000 word essay, I have to get this statement, and that statement, I have no buddies, I have no friends, I do know of quite a few blue falcons, but it just amazes me how I have to jump through hoops while hearing about a female RESERVE Coast Guardsman who had her son die and she was diagnosed with PTSD, or the PAO who was diagnosed with PTSD, or the Soldier who manned a checkpoint and a guard tower was labeled with PTSD, and my favorite of all time, the Voc Rehab Counselor telling me of a client who was diagnosed with 100%, ONE HUNDRED PERCENT, because she was in Basic Training for only two weeks, that's right, she was in Basic Training for ONLY TWO weeks and she was given 100%, I have even heard of people getting diagnosed for just being over there, I came home from Iraq for R & R only to end up watching my dad die from cancer, have shown the pictures to numerous people, and I can't get one single person to talk to me, forget about a diagnosis, you know, I guess good things are just meant for other people.

The letters are not a requirement but has helped other veterans winning their claims. Remember every claim is different and what worked for others may not work for you. There are so many different situations. The best thing to remember is the 1st step in the VA claims process also known as the 5 ways of service connection.
