Looks super. The idea for having that tall vertical space for wire and long ham poles is a good idea I bet many people overlook!

Holy crap, when you got to your antenna, I thought you were going to say that you have a shortened G5RV! I read today on another ham's web site that a two thousand dollar radio connected to a 2 dollar antenna is a 2 dollar ham station, I like that one. Very nice shack indeed, like your "secret weapon" too. I got my first ham license in BC, VE7FMW at CFB Comox, on my sixth call now.

Very nice. I like the way the monitors are at eye level for ergonomic comfort rather than elevated up on a shelf as I see in many shacks. I think you should give an equipment name to your secret weapon, like DB-01-AOW (Day Bed 1- Awaiting Open Window) to make it sound fancier.

I'm just now designing my shack, and your set-up looks nice! I have a smaller room, so I placed a lot of emphasis on the console. I like rack-mounted gear, but that makes it a little tricky when selecting components. Even so, I think it offers a much cleaner appearance provided you can find what you want.

Realize this is an old video, but good job. I do not get the draw to contesting, as it seems too much like work. However, that is exactly why this is such a great hobby. We all have so many different options. If you are still in the shack, and if those lights in the ceiling aren’t LED, you may consider converting them. If there are cans, then getting an LED insert is easy and fairly inexpensive. Im not sure if there is any RFI issues with LEDs, as most of my shack has been converted to DC power. In doing so I have built my own lighting “fixtures” using various colors of weatherproof running lights for trailers. Depending on how bright I want the room I use either all white, or a mixture of white, blue, and amber.

Thanks Jay. The lighting is indeed LED GU-10, and it works out just fine RFI-wise -- things are quiet for radio receiving. Antennas are some distance from the house, which also helps.
