One thing to note about tip 15, if you spam block, your deflect timing window will stagnate temporarliy (less frames), meaning you will be much less likely to land a deflect if you use this method than if you were to try timing it properly. I would recommend holding block, and then releasing it and re-applying it quickly when you think an attack is going to land, that way you're safe from fast attacks that could catch you off-guard. Great video though!

@@ClassicKrusty Apart from the loading screen, I can attest to this as well: spamming block/deflect against the Corrupted Monk whirly-twirly attack lets me deflect on average 2/5 hits (usually the first and the last), whereas trying to time it correctly gets me on average 3.5/5 (I'm not very consistent on the 4th attack).

@Dark Zer9f It doesn't need an easy mode, it needs more options to make the game easier. In Sekiro you can't find a better weapon, level up, or summon friends to help, that's one of the things that makes the game hard.

The Genichiro fight on the top of Ashina Castle was one of the greatest boss fight experiences I’ve ever had. I had been struggling and struggling for days against him. Then one day the whole game just kind of clicked. I had to stop rushing through the fight and take it more like a dance, and I had to start treating my dance partner with more patience and let him make the mistakes. This game is awesome and I love it.

It truly does feel like you’re dancing with them, following a single rhythm once you got it. I lost easily 30 times in a row to Genichiro and after being absolutely blown to pieces in the last round I respawned and entered almost god mode I deflected all the deflectable attacks and only got hit once. I was shaking at the end of the fight I wasn’t expecting a 2nd phase and the last cut scene almost gave me a heart attack lmao

I agree, it was probably my favorite boss fight in the game, it's (for the most part) the only fight I have gone back to in reflection of strength just to master it to the point I can no hit the entire fight, it really does feel like a dance, and of course, silly me thought that me mastering that fight would be applicable to the inner genichiro fight....I was humbled quickly.

One thing that really helped me in this game coming from DS is realizing that you have to play more aggressively defensive. As in, you want to be up in your enemy's face but once you're there, you want to play more defensive and counter your enemy's hits compared to the souls games. Hesitation is defeat.

Sekiro: There's no stamina, but posture, which recovers faster when blocking Players: Play this game exactly the other way how you played Dark Souls and Bloodborne and don't dodge! Me: THERE IS NO STAMINA??!! * runs the whole boss fight against the blazing bull and Lady Butterfly and only stops to deal single HP blows from behind * After the first two tries, those two bosses were actually among the easiest for me. I know this is not how I'm supposed to play, but I think the game is the easiest, if you consider a wide variety of gameplay styles matching your individual situations. Blocking and parrying for most enemies, outrunning huge and fast enemies, using prosthetics against enemy gadgets, using prosthetics as gadgets it situations get out of hand, dodging sideways for enemies who mainly rely on strong vertical attacks, mikirin counters against spears, etc. ... If you add the stealth, I think this game actually offers the most variety in minute to minute gameplay over any souls game.

Honestly I think deflecting is a lot easier in this game, except maybe for DS3's caestus. What annoys me to no end is that this time around that makes the game even harder to keep up with, since bosses will casually eat a perfect parry like it's nothing and continue their 10-hit combos, or even worse, just melt 60% of your HP with a single hit.

A major tip for people grinding away at a boss and don’t want to lose their experience is the exp only reduced on death to the beginning of the exp point. Reason why it's harder than Dark Souls: DS you ONLY focused on pressing dodge by timing the enemy's actions. Sekiro you MUST focus on the correct actions, from Dodging/Block/Jumping, or else you will be punished. Therefore your brain has to learn to prepare & react to all variety of actions at the right time. Dark Souls you can lay back and just think about pressing that Dodge button only.

This is one of my most favorite From games I’ve played, maybe just a tiny bit below Bloodborne. I really like the combat. I find it to be a bit of a combination of Bloodborne’s aggressiveness and Dark Souls’s defensiveness. Some parts you gotta keep swinging, others, blocks and parries are your friend. Then there are some parts where you have to balance the two out. It’s so much fun.

100% agree with that. I got through the first part of the game playing it like a Souls game and it was tough but then I hit a wall and couldn't get any further. Man, I watched this video late but I just gotta tell this story of what made me love this game. I accidentally went to the first corrupted monk boss before fighting the first Genichiro. I spent maybe four hours straight on that fight and at some point I naturally found out the block dancing thing mentioned here while panicking. And then when facing Genichiro, I learned how to go from panic mashing block to finding the rhythm of an enemy's attack string, thus changing a hit on me into massive posture damage for them. It's incredible how naturally you can learn techniques in Sekiro.

@ketherga
@ketherga 5 жыл бұрын
@@robertpendli340 This is absolutely not true. Sekiro makes you pay attention, if you do you'll find that almost every boss and miniboss has dead moments where you can get behind them and attack. This can't be blocked and you usually have enough time to get off a thrust attack. If you have the presence of mind though, Ichimonji has the same wind up as a thrust, does more damage and posture damage, and recovers your posture. Nightjar reversal has the same wind up and lets you make enough distance that most bosses can't hit you. Senpo leaping kick is just- really good. It's just good, in fact it might be the best combat art int he game. Because it comes off instantly, takes you out of most enemy's attack arcs and to my knowledge no enemy can parry out of the wind up for a thrust or sweep attack so as long as you don't wiff you will do damage to an enemy doing a sweep, which almost every boss does at some point in their patterns. Combat arts are awesome and you should be using them.
@robertpendli340
@robertpendli340 5 жыл бұрын
@@ketherga All of the hardest bosses in the game except the secret one, are fast humanoid types who have enough down time for exactly one attack, 2 if you got behind them and stun them with the first. There is not a single combat art fast enough to hit the final boss of the game, who is by far the hardest (not sure about the one route that has a different final boss than the other three, from what I saw he's a easier as he doesn't have 4 god damn health bars). Against the slow bosses and minibosses, they're fine, but they're easy enough that you don't need the arts anyway and it's just styling on them. Except for Ichimonji (as its free, though so god damn slow(if it didn't deal bonus posture damage when blocked it would be the worst of them all)), none of them deal enough damage to either posture or vitality to justify their time cost or their spirit cost, you'd be better of dealing standard hits in nearly every instance, as even when you can hit with them, they are too slow and will cause you to miss the sweet spot where you can deal full damage, and instead deal heavily reduced damage.
