Thanks for this video, it’s good to know I’m not alone with problems! I had an Accordo 135 temporarily while I was waiting for my CV80. Interior is very similar. Major problem was that the heating didn’t work, so one time we really needed it, we had a very cold night. It also had the leaking problem with the fresh water outlet, pretty much from new. Was fixed under warranty but it’s a couple of half day round trips to the dealership each time. We also had the toilet door handle come off on our second trip. With the CV80, the pop top wouldn’t close properly which made journeys noisy. We also had loads of problems with the alarm going off which we were told was due to the pop top not being closed, but good to know your workaround in case it happens again. We’ve also had problems with the side door bug screen. It almost always comes off it’s runner and need to unscrew and refit each time, which is not fun when light is going and you’re trying to keep bugs out. We “lost” the solar panel off the top of the van, we assume it was just not glued on properly and was replaced under warranty. I’m not sure at the moment if the new solar panel is properly charging the leisure battery. The water level monitor is random like you said. The door on the side of the bed has worked it’s way loose and as it’s just chipboard I’ve had to use some matches to be able to screw it back on, as the holes were mushed up. The gas oven is tricky to ignite. Like you, we regularly bang our heads on the headbanger! Roof trim round the entrance to pop top was not glued on properly. Magnetic strips on the front window blinds were not glued on properly. All in all, not a brilliant experience and I’d struggle to recommend Elddis. That said, I realise similar vans from other brands can cost quite a bit more.

Excellent video and well done you for outlining these issues. As you say they are small things, but they should have been picked up at the factory or dealer doing the PDI. The dealer pre delivery checks should pick up a lot of these issues and rectify before you pick up your new and expensive van, the dealer can then feed these issues back to the factory for ongoing QA improvements. Hopefully someone at the manufacture or dealers will take notice and tighten up on their QA checks. Nice Video indeed.

I own CV40 they are lovely vans built to a price. the one problem for me has been the cabinet next to the microwave was coming away from the ceiling due to those cheap plastic fixings that had broken ,which I’ve now replaced with same fixing which I sourced online ,but they don’t seem to be man enough for the job may need to find a better solution . My first Elddis was a 2007 Sunseeker 115 from west country motorhomes which we bought brand new though a budget van the interior cabinets , window , blinds etc where definitely a more robust construction even though the CV40 is a lovely van materials feel flimsy compared to the Sunseeker 115.

Hi Ian I am asking people who own Elddis CVs How are you finding them? How’s the Elddis build quality? We were at the NEC and had a look round a CV40 Testing the bed for size! I’m 6ft 1 and just fit I see you have the Dealer special, what lead time was it ? I’m interested in the auto. Looks good Neil In Wigan
@TravellingfromScratch2 жыл бұрын
Hi Neil. My honest opinion of the CV40 is that I love it. There are a few teething troubles with it that need to be sorted out under the warranty but I have watched other videos with more expensive alternatives to the CV40 and they all have their little teething troubles. I have put a full size small double mattress in the back of mine to make a permanent fixed bed. I am 5'10 and sleep comfortably in the bed but when it was just the cushions making up the bed I didn't sleep very well. I even tried a mattress topper but that didn't work for me either. It took about 6 months between ordering mine and getting the call from TVMH but it was closed as it was during the pandemic lockdown. I have heard that there's quite a waiting list now. All in all I think that the CV40 is reasonably priced for what it is when you compare it to other manufacturers. All that being said, if the fuel prices continue to rise the way that they are I won't be able to afford to run mine and will have to sell it. Will be a shame because I love it but can't afford to have all that money sat on the drive and not being used. If you have decided that you want a campervan and can afford the fuel, I can definitely recommend the CV40. Good luck with your choice and whatever it is I hope you don't have to wait too long.

Headbanging shelf, we call ours the quack shelf, forget to duck and you'll know why. Bit of 15 mm pipe insulation sorted it, your right about the water sensor tried to set ours up without success, drain off pipe to the fresh water tank is 15 mm while waste is double the diameter. Ordered a water flow meter to check how much we are putting in.
@TravellingfromScratch3 жыл бұрын
Yeah the water flow meter is a good idea and works well. I know the pipe is bigger on the grey waste drain but I just wish the taps were bigger. That's the bottleneck
@stevewade55223 жыл бұрын
@@TravellingfromScratch Hi as our tanks don't have the winter insulation pack I dropped the pipe fittings off the fresh water tank yesterday. The drain outlet on the tank is a moulded 15 mm outside diameter spigot, the internal diameter on the spigot is only 8 mm, with the pipework and valve disconnected the tank drain off is still painfully slow, so modifying the pipe/valve diameter won't make any difference.

Attention to detail is everything especially when you're paying so much. It's the little things that show craftsmanship and gives you the confidence. Your van is brand new and looking at the snags you've pointed out I suspect most of those snags will keep reoccurring over time. Plastic cupboard catches will just keep failing as time goes by. I was shocked at the so called vaneer on your cupboards etc. It's nothing more then paper glued to MDF. Sticky backed plastic would be marginally better and would last longer. I don't know what you've paid for the van but I imagine it's 10's of thousands and I'd be more worried about the sloppy work you can't see. Like you say quality control is clearly nonexistent if they can't even put enough screws in things you've picked up on how can you have confidence in the safety features and things you can't see easily. If in your shoes I'd feel like I'd been ripped off to some degree....I hope you get everything sorted satisfactorily. Might be wise to ask for some spare items like the screw covers and cupboard handles.

Thanks for the reply Karena and taking the time to watch my video. Asking for extra screw covers etc is a great idea. Hope everything gets sorted soon. I'll update on my KZbin channel when it's all done. 👍🏻

@@TravellingfromScratch The oven knob just sets the temperature. The flame comes on full until it hits temp in the oven. Then it will go low to maintain temp.
