@@Mattebodra I'm old enough to have seen them play live.what he's doing in this video is exactly what he did on stage when I saw them... This is Kyuss at its prime. Absolutely amazing. Homme haters, go somewhere else. Because this is absolute badass.
@dmitryowens543910 жыл бұрын
Kyuss was not all about Homme - Garcia's voice was/is awesome and unique, Scott was/is a great bassist, and Alfredo was/is a kick-ass drummer, although I prefer Brant Bjork. Homme was the most average member of Kyuss, and his lead on the version of "Freedom Run" here is horrible sloppy crap - sounds like a 15 year-old Punk Rock guitarist trying to play like Jimmy Page and failing miserably. I do agree his rhythm guitar playing and riffs are very good though. But not as good as Brant Bjork's - Bjork wrote "Gardenia" and many other classic Kyuss songs.
@dmitryowens543910 жыл бұрын
FSBass Who fucking cares? Oliveri is a douche with marginal talent just like Josh Homme is - Scott Reeder is a way better bassist. And I'd say that J.G. is a far better and more dynamic singer than Homme is a guitarist.
@acarlovonsexron19949 жыл бұрын
Dmitry Owens Are you talking about that freakout at the end of the solo in Freedom Run? That's Greg Ginn, not Jimmy Page and it's supposed to sound fucked up. I think Spaceship Landing, Whitewater, and N.O. would be better showcases of his Kyuss era performances.
@whitty9820009 жыл бұрын
Dmitry Owens How is Josh in anyway, an "average" talent? Come on, man. Seriously? Homme would have arranged the majority of the Songs for the Deaf album, easily the best rock record over the past ten to eleven years...
@dmitryowens54399 жыл бұрын
Carlo Von Sexron Lol I didn't say that it was Jimmy Page playing on "Freedom Run" - I said Homme was trying to play a Page-style lead and failing. And none the guitar solos on that song are are performed by Greg Ginn ( of Black Flag ) - I don't know where you got that misinformation from.
@paul80799 жыл бұрын
Alfredo was an awesome beast of a drummer. He didn't have the craziness of Brant. But the man was technical and was very tight. The whole band, all the participants, were so good. There's good reason why this band is considered legendary. Because they really were that good.

I listen to them at least once a month ever since, if not more when I get on a kick. I was stationed at Edwards after England and got to meet John Garcia at Glen Helen Pavilion in Cali around 1997 in front of Unida I believe. First concert Danzig and Kyuss in Cincinnati at Bogarts, I think 93, I was blown away by Kyuss, also one of the loudest shows I've seen, and I'm old, everything from Cluth to GWAR, I've seen it, but that just blew me away, bought Blues for the Red Sun the next day at J.L. records in Lafayette Indiana, best record shop ever, over 30 years, I'm 49, been buying music at J.L.'s since at least 1989.

The years there in the 90s where these guys , Tool and Danzig ,mainly , managed to break through the huge Death/Black metal trend which had taken over the metal sub genre. The 3 above sounded extremely "fresh" and "authentic" etc ... etc ... truly surprising when I 1st heard they had broken up cause they seemed to be on their way to something huge ... and yeah , you can view the QOTSA project as just that , in a way . I even remember Bruce Dickinson who had just left Iron Maiden praising these guys as the next big thing in Metal in some interview for MTV or one of those channels , VIVA perhaps ...

Funny cause they never saw themselves as metal and didn’t listen to metal

Dimitry. If you are such an accomplished guitarist, why are you responding so passionately to comments at 10pm on a Friday night? Didn't you have a gig?

I'm the lucky guy that got to see them twice 😀😀(for being from New Jersey that's a pretty amazing feat). I'm sure plenty of people from palm Springs and out west did. But not many East coast people did and I was one of them 😀😀😀😀

Nice. Thank You. I'm watching and say to myself; that's Josh on Guitar lol. I never heard this in my life. Wow, this is some really good shit. I'm really into the Stoner/Sabbath/Psychedelic Groove thing so this is a trip. Can't believe I missed out on this. Shades of Blue Cheer.
