I've owned 2 Bissells, and I notice they love to eat carpet. I initially thought these fuzzies were my cats' undercoat, but upon closer inspection, it's synthetic shredded carpet fibers. My carpeting is 20 years old now though, so it's going to be time for replacement soon anyway. I don't notice as much of these fibers in my Dyson or Kenmore vacuums. I'm also an asthmatic and have found that bagged vacuums don't exacerbate my symptoms as much as my bagless one during a full house cleaning session. I hate cleaning the filters too. Happy to see bagged vacuums making a bit of a comeback!

There were a few years we used bagless, but in the end we ended up going back to bagged vacuum. So much cleaner. I dreaded dumping that bagless canister just to get that cloud of dust back on my clothes.

I just bought the one with the bag, during quarantine. I have a German Shepherd. Her shedding is everywhere but this has an amazing pick up! I used it three times already and the bag was full of her hair. I did have to change the bag but I would recommend this for pets 😆

Just had to let you know how much I like your channel, and presentation(s). Had to subscribe. I'm a fan of vintage Royal uprights, but dabble with whatever comes my way. Bought this bagged Bissll at Walmart today for my son. I'll be damned if it isn't worth the $60 I paid. I'd have built a Royal "Franken-Vac" for him, but he needs tools handy, and has 90% hardwood floors anyway. Keep up the great work!

Honestly this is one of my reccomendations to people on an extreme budget who need it for carpet and need a vacuum now! Grab a 20 dollar pack of cleanfairy cloth bags to go with it and you're set. Definitely can serve you well if you take care of it for people who aren't vacuum enthusiasts like us :) In a bare bones cheap vacuum thats bagged I really can't ask for much more, maybe a squeegee and a lifetime belt. Does what it's supposed to do.

VacLab Those that apparently do expect miracles (expect them never to get clogged😷, or never break belts) wind up being the former owners of the many vacuums I picked out of the dumpster since 2014. Most of these were Bissells (including 3 PowerForce Helix model 12B1’s!). Is that because Bissell makes the worst vacuums? Or is that because they sell more vacuums than anybody else? One of them even had what looked like a dead rotting mouse sucked up into the footer hose.(🤮...gross!). Sorry, but these are not wet/dry vacs. So I’m inclined to believe that most of these people abuse and neglect them.

I just found one of those Bissell PowerForce (bagged) vacuums in our condo dumpster just yesterday. Other than it missing the extension wand, all it needed was a radical cleaning and a new bag. I have found numerous cheap vacuums in the dumpster since 2014. Usually, they almost always need cleaning, but often have broken belts and always are missing at least one attachment. So why pay 40 bucks at Walmart when I can get them for free! I already learned a couple of things from your video, 1… How to remove the door to access the bag, and 2…How to lower full-size Bissell uprights to the ground (with two clicks). I have two other Bissell uprights as well, a PowerForce Helix (bagless)model 12B1, and a Cleanview Helix (bagless) Model 82H1. Thanks to you, I found out that they also both fully lower to the ground with two clicks on the handle release lever. BTW, I subbed, belled, liked, and just now commented.

I have a question for others on the 1739 - I just bought this because I like bagged versus bagless but what I don't like is that the exhaust vent that is positioned under the front bag cover is BLOWING LOTS OF AIR AND IN TURN - THINGS LIKE CARDS, AND NEWSPAPER OFF SHELVES - do others notice that?
@VacLab
@VacLab 4 жыл бұрын
This strong exhaust behavior is normal for many bypass machines. Even my newest Kenmore Elite that has a HEPA filtered exhaust can blow stuff everywhere.

@linksmith1057

I'm not a huge fan of the baggless Bissells, particularly the low end ones. When they turn on they tend to blow out as much dust as they pick up. The bagged ones are much better in this respect IMHO, my family had one of these power force units for a few years before it died (motor death). Worked well until one day it started belching out smoke and stopped dead a few seconds later. Enamel on the field windings had come off and shorted out (my guess is from vibration, they weren't held down with epoxy or straps or anything, just flapping around in the breeze). I would be irritated about the windings being so sloppy but then I remembered, this was like a $50 vacuum that lasted three years in the dusty plains of north eastern Colorado.
@colterkardas4105
@colterkardas4105 3 жыл бұрын
Totally agree- if someone is going to buy a low end vacuum, buy one that is bagged. As the low end ones typically don’t have a good exhaust filter…

I'm surprised that there was that much dust and debris come out of that bag. Not a bad machine at all for the price and what it does. By the way you have my permission to use the paper bag for a sand in the carpet test and cut it up afterwards so you don't have to use a HEPA bag. That's if you decide to do the sand test and what not.
@VacLab

OK, I recently bought this model from Wal-Mart here in New Orleans, and for the life of me I can't figure out how to use the attachments. I've pulled the end of the hose off the short connector on the lower right hand side of the vacuum, but get absolutely no suction whatsoever. The other end of the hose is connected, via the twist and lock mechanism, to the upper rear of the vacuum where the bag attached inside. Is there something I'm missing here, or do I have some kind of defective unit? I've checked for clogs and found none. It does seem to operate normally (with suction) when doing normal floor vacuuming. Thanks in advance for any pointers!
@VacLab
@VacLab 3 жыл бұрын
If you get no suction from the hose end with the vacuum running, you won't get any pickup from the nozzle either. Make sure the vacuum is turned on and the bag compartment door is fully snapped shut.

At first I thought you drank the kool aid, but you're just borrowing it. You should get one though to add to your collection. You should get your roof checked because it was snowing in your house (maybe it was the exhaust from the Bissell, it's a tad extreme...now that I think about it, seeing as it's summer and all, I guess it probably was the Bissell). Cool video!

@calvinbryant1124
@calvinbryant1124 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah but you may like bag with vacuum but think about your overall health every time you dump that trash in the trash can from that because you're releasing all of that pollutants back up in your breathing that and over time you can damage your lungs I don't know if you have asthma or allergies but a lot of times you can damage your lungs breathing in all that dust. And bags are more sanitary for the environment and a lot of times with those Bagless machines there are filters multiple filters in those machines that if you do not keep clean it can clog your Bureau vacuum and burn out your motor so therefore you're right back by another vacuum which can contribute to the overfilled in the lands dump so basically bag vacuum zarabanda you going to have them a lot longer then Bagless machines but that's just my opinion you know everybody's entitled to spend their own money on what they want I'm just I'm just one that I don't like to keep buying vacuum every six months because something done went wrong and I grew up on bagged vacuum so those are all I know I got a few relatives they like those bagless things cuz they can see the dirt and I get that but another good brand will another good brand is the rainbow brand but they're kind of pricey but again there good machines because I have a rainbow I have a Kirby in a rainbow and I love them both so
